Friday, 27th January, 2012 Queens Park Rangers are expected to push through a deal for Nancy midfielder Samba Diakite before the transfer window slams shut next week. The Rs look to have gained the upper hand in the race for the all-action midfielder, seeing off interest from cash-strapped Lyon in the process, while Marseille have had their hands tied over a possible bid due to their failure to offload Lucho Gonzalez. Diakite is believed to be excited by the prospect of playing in the Premier League and will further bolster Mark Hughes’ squad. And barring a shock, the 23-year-old will join QPR on a loan deal until the end of the season. Importantly too, the London outfit have agreed an option to buy Diakite from Nancy for the fixed price of €4M at the end of the current campaign. The midfielder has been starring for Mali in the African Cup of Nations this month. http://www.insidefutbol.com/2012/01/27/samba-diakite-set-for-qpr-switch/56987/?
Me neither grove. But there are to many intriguing factors about this one for me to be sceptical. I honestly see him as being some sort of Patrick Viera for us, and no one recognises a talent in France better than Lyon so I say go get him.
Hi all, can't recall how long since my last post (that would have been on the old BBC 606) but things really beginning to happen on the transfer front now! Would be great if we were able to strike a deal for this lad too. Does anyone know if he is related to the Burkina Faso goalkeeper Daouda Diakite? - just curious that's all.
I too have never heard of him so cant comment but any signing in midfield with a bit of energy cant be bad.
Going off the subject for a moment just wanted to say thanks Norway for putting a lot of QPR info on the Board. It is well appreciated . And no I've never heard of Diakite either.
27/01/2012 by David McIntyre QPR boss Mark Hughes has confirmed he is trying to capture Nancyâs Mali midfielder Samba Diakité before next weekâs transfer deadline. Lyon are also interested in the 23-year-old, who is currently on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. But Hughes is hopeful the player will choose a move to west London and beef up Rangersâ midfield options in the wake of Alejandro Faurlinâs knee injury. Hughes said: âWeâre hoping to progress with that. Heâs a player I like and one I think could help us. âWeâre having conversations about it and hopefully it will lead to something happening.â http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-boss-hopeful-of-diakite-signing/?
Cheers Staines, I can assure you it's a pleasure in these positive times I have to say that the appointment of Mark Hughes is the best that could have happened to us from my personal perspective. Have said all along that for us as a club to grow we must be able to find and attract the right players from abroad. As both quality and value for money is easier to find there. Unfortunately I can't see that Neil Warnock would have either the knowledge, willingness or network to do that for us. Being linked with the kind of players like Diakite fills me with much more excitement than overpriced squad players in the PL.
