Think 54 are correct on this one. QPR not confirmed it yet (shock), but his current club confirmed it earlier today. Good enough for me.

Didn't you see Phil Beard at last night's ACON match? He was sitting behind the dugout with a pen, waving a few sheets of paper.

Samba Diakité is officially lent to the English club of Queens Park Rangers jusqu' at the end of the season. This loan will be transformed automatically into final transfer in the event of maintenance of the London club, currently 16th with two points d' advances on the first relégable. Currently in Gabon with the selection Malian to dispute the EDGE there, the player profited from a permission of the selector Alain Giresse to carry out the return ticket in London in order to pass the medical visit then to sign his contract.

Midfielder said to be flying to London to sign a contract

Nancy have announced Mali midfielder Samba Diakite has joined Queens Park Rangers on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent deal.

The 23-year-old is currently on international duty at the Africa Nations Cup, but he has been allowed to fly to London to sign his contract.

And QPR will have the option to sign Diakite on a permanent basis if they avoid relegation from the Premier League, according to Nancy.

"It will become a permanent transfer if the London club stay in the Premier League," the Ligue 1 side said in a statement.

Diakite's debut for QPR will depend on how far Mali progress in the Africa Cup of Nations.

They are presently third in Group D with three points from two games, level on points with second-placed Guinea with one match to play.

QPR were on Saturday knocked out of the FA Cup following defeat by Chelsea and Mark Hughes' side sit two points clear of the Premier League relegation zone.

Strange - he doesn't look like the same disinterested player I saw playing for Mali last night!

Like not getting an injury which would screw up the deal I suppose! I wondered why he wasn't even substituted.

Not sure he can save our striker problems he's played 16 games for Nancy this season without a goal however he has got 6 yellow cards, can only presume he's strong in the tackle?

Not quite sure why we've brought this lad in,he's only played about 35 games for his club at senior level. It's obviously just a 6 month loan to begin with io replace Ali but is he up to this level?I don't know who his agent is but i'm hoping it isn't you know who. Also for god's sake please tell me he doesn't need a work permit!

Probably because he looks like a good prospect I bet some people were saying the same thing when we bought Faurlin "WHO" me included. The work permit should not cause a problem as he will not start earliest two weeks or may not start until March depending on Mali's success?

Just asked people in France about Diakite. They seem to rate him. Strong, imposing, young so he still has plenty of time to improve. He will need time to adapt to the the EPL but he could be a good acquisition.
