Sam Winner is out for the season after fracturing a knee at Cheltenham.

At least it's fixable, he's a young horse and will recover.

Good luck to him and his owners.

Was surprised reading the Column because I hadn't realised his injury. Sounds pretty serious from what I've read and was touch and go at one stage.

Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery. Fortunately he has time on his side being only a 4 year old. It might be that the extra year on his back will be a blessing in disguise.

Ditto.

I think regardless of his career from here, it is good to know he survived the injury and that it wasn't worse than feared.

Was going very nicely at Cheltenham before his fall.

Have to agree that it might not be a bad thing for this horses long term career. He probably should have had another season over hurdles, I've never been a fan of running 4 year olds over fences. He hasn't won a race over fences, so he can come back next season with his novice status still intact, and start his chasing career again

Hope he comes back, bigger and better than before. A horse with lots of potential to my eye. Sad to hear of this injury, all too common in the jumping game.

Not entirely related but unfortunately on the same sorry subject.

I read in the Weekender form analysis that Chablais had slipped at tendon at Ascot and was unlikely to race again.

Can't find any other confirmation so not sure what the story is in any more detail. Very sad because he was clearly a decent, if fragile, horse.
