Just seen on SSN that wolves are open to offers for Sam Vokes they are looking to sell and don't want to loan the player out again. Is this the type of player we should be interested in he is young and has shown some promise plus correct me if I am wrong but is decent in the air too. could Malky unlock a hidden talent if we got him in or would he flop?

He came to Norwich for a short loan and looked ok and scored for us. Good in the air? Certainly can be.

Could be a useful addition to a promotion chasing team such as Cardiff but not too sure if he would make the step up to the PL, as he hasn't made it with Wolves.

Looking at his career it’s been a while since he stayed and had a decent run in a team just wonder if given the opportunity he and a run of games he might have potential. At any level it’s hard to stamp your mark on a team let along the premiership.

Only other snag how much would wolves be wanting as he isn’t a player with a track record are we talking 500k maybe is he worth that or more??

In this day and age £500,000 is not a lot for a striker from a PL team but as you say it's a long time since he was an established player at any club so is he worth that much? I think it would be a bit of a gamble but then any transfer has that same potential as not all players play well at all clubs.

Ask your self another question, could you get a proven goal scorer from the Championship or L1 for the same or less money? I would doubt it so perhaps taking a punt on an out of favour PL striker, who can score goals at a slightly lower level might be a better idea.

i saw him score a couple of excellent goals against norway, he could be worth a punt, he hasnt hacked it at the top level but thats no disgrace, he's at a good age aswell but i wouldnt just bid for him as he's seen such little football, a loan with option to buy would be the way forwards but if thats not a goer then i'd leave him for someone else <ok>

I have some doubts as I'm not sure what his strengths are. He has scored well for the Blades but that is Div. 1. He hasn't been great in the limited chances he had at Wolves.

I remember him playing for Norwich at Ninian when he scored a terrific 30 yard shot and looked good that day (it was either a 2 - 2 draw or 2 - 1 to Norwich, it was also memorable for Chops missing about 5 clear chances which would have given us an easy win) - but he had Dion Dublin up alongside him and Dublin gave one of the best centre forward displays I ever saw at Ninian (even at 30 something he gave Jolly Rog a very tough time) so anyone with half a brain would have looked good.

However, I don't think Vokes is that quick, he is not that tall, just about 6 ft I think so not dominant in the air. If I had to draw a comparison it would be Mark Hughes but Sparkey's all round game had so much more.

I would take Jamie Mackie given the choice, quicker and with a bigger goal threat and can play wide so avoids having to shell out on a winger as well.

We need players to improve the team.

    Vokes isnt good enough.

Mason and Gestede (Mason in particular) are miles better.

Wolves are a poor outfit and Vokes cant get in their line up.

    Says it all.

    Mackie id have straight away.

Think Ched Evans scored that 30 yarder for Norwich. Hes worse than Vokes. Remember loads of our fans wanted to sign him - lucky escape.

Oops, got the wrong one. Old age doesn't come alone.

    Wouldn't want Ched either though.
