According to the (unreliable) source of wikiedia, Sam Vokes and has been given the number 18. Does anyone know if he's any good, Marlon or a Nordin? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Vokes
searching twitter saints fans think he is there Brighton , and pompey are claiming him and (this is funny) PNE have paid £1.6m for him!
Whoo whoo whoo, hang on a minute... All would say that Marlon King did wonders at Watford, and was a stand-out player. So, when you state, "Does anyone know if he's any good, Marlon or a Nordin?", it sounds as if you are suggesting will he be as good as Marlon King (i.e. very good) or as good as Nordin Wooter (i.e.......borderline genius). This isn't a very good comparison, as you have only provided two players who are towards the higher end of the scale. I would suggest you remove Marlon King and replace with Dominic Foley. That way you have the opposite ends of the spectrum. For example: On a scale of Dominic Foley to Nordin Wooter, how would you rate Sam Vokes?
didn't realise there was a wooter fan on this board, I just chose somebody I thought was ineffectual. I'll use Nathan Ellington next time
Bournemouth-based Fulham fan in peace. I used to watch Vokes when he first came through at Bournemouth and I rated him. When he moved to Wolves he seemed to be doing well in the championship but hasn't been used at all in the Premier League as far as I know. If you have signed him, I'd be reasonably optimistic about how he'll do. I seem to recall that as well as getting his share of goals, he had a good sense of the craft of the targetman - movement, holding the ball up, etc. At the time I rated him above Brett Pitman, who came through at Bournemouth at the same time and got more of the plaudits than Vokes.
thanks for that Captain Morgan ...there have been so many rumours, usually when it's such a strong rumour, it turns out to have some truth in it. But no idea who else is looking at him...
Sam Vokes' Wikipeada page had been update stating that he has signed wef 1/8/2011 for £1million! Time will tell. But if it is a WUM, they are going to extraordinary lengths! Don't they have anything better to do?
GBP 1.000.000 is a huge amount of money for us even allowing for the money we have recieved for DG and WB. What would his salary be, much more than our wage system?
I suspect the money will be the 'windfall' from the Young money... so almost an unexpected signing as such. I can't see wages being too much of a problem. £5k a week is still a fair whack and there are always bonuses that can be given on top - hopefully goal bonuses! I can't see him being on too much more at Wolves as he was signed as a youngster and hasn't done too much where he has deserved a big wage increase!
It will be interesting to see how this unfolds, luckily I am on standown today so I will be keeping my eyes peeled for updates!
