Wow that was a great video to watch back, hopefully he can score more next season and we will be at the right end come may!
Sam points the finger at SC and his belief and encouragement in Baldocks scoring ability. What a relief to have a manager with his head screwed on
I could've scored a lot more - Baldock Golden Boot winner insists there is plenty more to come. please log in to view this image He may have just been crowned the most potent marksman in the third tier, but City skipper Sam Baldock insists this is just the start. The striker fired 24 league goals in 2013/14 and 26 in all competitions â the highest total of any City player in nine seasons. Despite not finding the net in the final day draw at Crawley Town, Baldock was guaranteed the Sky Bet League One Golden Boot after Peterborough Unitedâs Britt Assombalonga was rested for his sideâs clash with Port Vale in preparation for the play-offs. But the 25-year-old, who scored 18 of his goals following the December arrival of new manager Steve Cotterill, believes his performances can still go up several notches. âObviously every striker wants to score more goals than anyone else and itâs fantastic to finish top of the charts,â he told Bristol City Player. âItâs the best goalscoring season of my career, but maybe not the best in terms of playing. I still feel Iâve got a lot more to give and I couldâve had a lot more goals as well.â Baldock cited some half-time words of encouragement from Cotterill in the January home game with former club Milton Keynes Dons as a major turning point in his fortunes in front of goal. âIt was a massive turnaround,â he acknowledged. âIâd gone in at half-time with my head down having missed a couple of chances I wouldâve usually put my house on. âBut he (Cotterill) turned around and said to me that I wasnât coming off, no matter what. Then I went out in the second half and got a couple of goals, and really kicked on from there. âThe manager gave me a lot of faith and when times have been hard heâs told me heâs still backing me to score goals. âHe still thinks that if I keep getting myself in the box, Iâll get on the end of things. Heâs given me that belief that I will score and create, and obviously Iâve taken that on to the pitch.â
