Back on English soil, and I'm greeted with a lfc loss to a team we should have beaten. Now this happens to all teams, the mark of a good team is how they react after such a loss. Lets find that confidence that Brodgers was on about, and break the trend of the last few seasons, and thrash Sunderland on the bounce! Also, I was in the air when the game was on, can you guys sum up what went wrong for me, please?
No one to link midfield to attack and no fullbacks plus a full 90 minute performance that was like the 2nd half performance of every other game so far this season.
You took the Saints for granted. The victory was already achieved before a ball was kicked...you believed your own hype about how good you were...
What's the point in Tobes? I know he has zero friends on the Everton board, but why bother coming onto a board of a team he hates? It's why I never go onto the Man U board, because is have no interest of what they have to say about their team.
If it wasn't him it would just be someone else (maybe someone even more annoying). The worst thing you can do is respond to his wumming. <ok >
Its frustrating becuase some of us said towards the end of the window that we were light in the attacking department and didn't have enough goals/creativity yet it was dismissed after we spent £25m on two defenders, one of which wasn't really needed.
We gave Southampton too much respect, Rodgers made a mess of the starting 11, namely 4 CB's removing all width. This also made us play defensively, which is unacceptable against Southampton at home (with all due respect).
It's was clear in the first five minutes that the side was unbalanced and that there was a lack of understanding not only of individual roles but also how to overcome the 4 man press! I normally go to some length to defend Gerrard. I still don't believe that he is lazy as some suggest but I did expect him to take charge on the pitch and pull the team together. He made no attempt to do so. So the bounce back. I believe that this will happen. Just the presence of Suarez (irrespective of how he plays) will give the team a lift and that's all that is really needed - providing we don't play 4CBs!
Southampton bossed us. We need to make Anfield a fortress, but teams are coming and giving us a game on the attack. Stoke did it.
The draw was a reality check, this loss should be the punishment that we didn't heed such a wake up call. It's too early to say yet, but with spurs squad strength (why we didn't buy eriksen is beyond me), Everton looking good and arsenals confident midfield; we need to step up now.
