2 trains have collided in Salisbury after one hit an object in a tunnel. Firefighters are there helping in a rescue mission. 17 people have been injured but so far no fatalities. Also a man has run amok with a knife on a train in Japan. Multiple injuries are reported, he then started a fire onboard ! He has since been arrested. Grim times

The world does feel rather out of control at the moment.
Poor and weak leadership abounds too.

    As you say....grim.

The world has gone nuts....was up in Glasgow yesterday, full of all the worlds wackos, attracted by COP26, walking around in a daze professing the end of days, wearing placards with their messages on. Police everywhere, following them around at a distance.

Meanwhile, Greta was mobbed at Central Station like a rock star - I've nothing against her, and do believe in a lot of her messages, but some of those who follow her are in danger of making it like a cult.

We’ve always had the wackos but they were isolated. These days you feel they feed of one another and self-create, urge one another and influence. A sign of the modern online social society we live in today.
Our growth as a population builds evermore industry, transportation and increased likelihood of more tragedies unfortunately. The more plates you spin the more likelihood some will fall, crash and break. We are a victim of our own success, desire for power/money and of our greed.

Surely train crashes have always happened? Well, at least since we've had trains.

But this one was caused by the climate. I think. I don’t really understand this thread but I rather like it.

May I also add to the 'Grim List' by reminding everybody that there's a new series of "I'm A Non-Entity..." just around the corner.

Would you please work up the pitch for ‘I’m a non entity on a train hurtling towards the next ice age or perhaps another train, I’ll get me coat’.

Hopefully Graham Norton and Jonathon Ross will be tied to the front grill - that'll get the viewing figures up

I was about to pull you up for wrong usage there, Ubes. I thought you'd used inexecrable when you meant execrable. Turns out inexecrable means 'thoroughly execrable'. Strange.

Yup, I checked before using it too. Recently heard it used to describe the whiny singer of something called Maroon 5.
