    Hello everyone.

I see in the local paper we might get up to 1.5 million from the young sale to man utd, if we get that much. how much of this will go to strengthening the team?

    your thoughs please

    cheers:emoticon-0116-evilg

Well seeing as Dyche and GT have come out saying that there will be investment in the squad then i certainly hope so. If not then i retract my negativity article. 1-2 mill would seem to be the fair deal, allows for a few new transfers and some loans too.

I thought that, he looks like he's got loads of confidence and usually when you see new managers they are quite cagey.... i'm off to put a tenner on promotion!:1980_boogie_down:

I really can't see more than 500k on transfer fees but Bassini promised to increase the playing budget by 30%, maybe that was a rash comment as if true it would mean another 15 players onto the pro books at our wage limit (with duke saddler gone using their freed up salaries + 3 million a year!!), can't see it.

i think you'll be suprised with the amount he has to spent, LB will want to prove a few things now , but due to our excellent eye for bargains i think we'll see a couple of likely lads from the lower leagues added to the squad, couple of old sweats and we;re ready to rock! 14/1 for promotion........

:emoticon-0150-hands I do get excited about the new season, and after watching his first interview and GT today i really do feel quite positive. I genuinely want SD to do well.

I've been having a think about this and I'd be happy if LB and the Board put all of the money from DG, WB and MM towards cashflow, debts, wages and the running of the club and left SD with the AY money to play with - I'm pretty sure a budget of between £800k and £1.5m would be bigger than the last couple of seasons and it would be a sensible option as that's surely just a bonus pot!

Get a replacement in for DG to score 15odd goals and I think we'll be fine...

If we sign 2 or 3 players and keep the ones we have then I don't see the need to loan any players in unless there are any serious injuries. I think we should concentrate on giving our players more game time.

Good loanees have proven their worth Toby , Foster, Johnson , Cleverly etc! They have a part to play in a club like ours,I would point out though that they would have to be season long loans and not just to Xmas!

True, but I'd rather see how the team does until Xmas then loan some players in if necessary. Our squad is a lot stronger than it has been over the last few years.

Problem with this though is that you'll probably find the right loan signings harder to find in January than you would at the beginning of the season.

I don't think it would make that much of a difference. I just don't like the 'you have to play our player every game' agreement that Drinkwater (and Weimann?) had in their loans. Also it's costing us money and increasing the value of their players. I know that we haven't got the strength in depth to challenge for a play-off place without loanees, our young players need experience though.

Yep, there is little doubt our lack of loan players affected us at the end of last season as we were forced to play youngsters who should really have had a break.

We had more loanees at the end of last season than the beginning?
