A Jap needs to be driving in a good team, Kobayashi in BMW is good but I would love to see one in a Mclaren or Ferrari. Conclusion: made after watching this video.
Yamamoto doesn't really set the world alight for me, mainly because the same mistakes he made in GP2, he made in F1. And he was a pay to race driver, not just for HRT, but Super Aguri as well This was one start so we can't say to much from one short video. It cold be that he is very good at starts, but he hasn't shown any real ability anywhere. Trouble is we hardly ever saw the HRT's, Virigins' and Lotus last year, unless they were being lapped (Lotus probably an exception). I agree that F1 needs a Japanese driver at the top, to bring more interest in the sport, and give their people hope for what has happened recently. I think Kobayashi fits the bill perfectly there. Maybe Kubica could take Massa's Ferrari seat, and Kobayashi replaces Kubica at Renault, but leaving Massa without a seat, but may replace a younger, less experienced driver at another team
