Not my words - they belong to a Mr N. Adkins - http://www.espnstar.com/football/pr...m826712/Adkins-targets-Euro-place-for-Saints/
I think Adkins was talking about setting your aspirations high, not that he necessarily believed it short term. I can only imagine what the papers will make of this.
Interestingly, he said Martin had gone for a season or half season loan. I thought he'd gone for the whole season. Presumably we have an option to bring him back if we need him in case of injury half way through the season.
I'm not used to all this ambition and positivity (spell check tells me that's not a word, but I'm using it anyway).
Well you can't fault his ambition. I'll have a pint of what he's been drinking if he really believes it though...
Adkins believes in believing..it's worked so far. And positivity is a word...think it's Adkins middle name.
I love his enthusiasm but, he must be careful not to give the various media outlets a tool to beat us with. They do like to pick a target sometimes, & I'd hate for our Nige to have more pressure piled on him than just a little old premiership campaign to contend with. I don't think I could bare seeing him sad, it would break my heart.
like they say aim for the sky and you'll reach the ceiling, aim for the ceiling and you'll reach the floor
if you set yourself ambitious targets, then even if you fail, its still incredible what you have achieved. If you set yourself an easy target, you'll only achieve mediocracy...
Depends how badly you fail, or how ambitious the target was. I could set myself the target of unassisted flight, but if I jump off my roof I don't think anybody would be marveling at my achievements...
As the father of a teenage boy, and having paddled into the cloakroom on numerous occasions, I can confirm that it must be a bit more difficult than that for some............
I do love the optimism but we haven´t played a game yet in the premier league for 7 years and we are talking about europe! I have no doubt that Adkins wouldn´t be talking about challenging for europe if it wasn´t for Cortese. He has obviously told Adkins his ambitions and I think Adkins is airing Cortese´s ambitions with his comments rarther than his own. I just hope Cortese doesn´t get too carried away and as soon as we go through a sticky patch decides that adkins isn´t good enough.
Another journalist learns the lesson about asking Nigel for sensible predictions. That guy could endeavour for England.
