How can you rate a football match based on commentary?! That's like reviewing a band by looking at pictures of them.

    Gazzaniga - 8.5
    Clyne - 8
    Fonte - 9 (MOTM)
    Yoshida - 8
    Shaw - 8
    Schneiderlin - 8.5
    Cork - 8
    Puncheon - 7.5
    Ramirez - 9
    Lallana - 8.5
    Lambert - 7.5

I usually waffle on in huge posts giving my ratings with great explanation. But after watching that game I'll give 10's all round, even the substitutes! Gazza shaky but made an absolutely fantastic save, defence almost a brick wall, Cork and Schneiderlin dominant, Lallana, Puncheon and Ramirez free-flowing poetry in motion, Lambert working his socks off and bringing a lot of it all together. Great game. <cheers>

    Ref can have a -5.

Gazza - 7 - great save(s) from Cisse. Didn't have too much to do, one mishap but got away with it. Overall improvement :D

    Clyne - 7.5 - no falling over!
    Fonte - 8
Yoshida - 8 - both him and Fonte threw themselves at everything and won everything in the air.
    Shaw - 7 - outstanding performance from a 17 year old

Cork - 8 - still unbeaten with him in the team!
Schneiderlin - 8 both midfielders faultless. Schneiderlin with some great interceptions

Puncheon - 9 - could have scored several and raped their LB
Lallana - 8.5 - same as puncheon just a few less times

Ramirez - 9 - very unselfish for Lallana's goal and well taken goal himself. Maybe a little bit of overreacting in the box but looked much much better technically today.
Lambert - 7.5 - great hold up and short passing

Ref - 0 - got everything wrong both ways. Even failed to give the most obvious throw ins you'll ever see. Lallana was understandably cross.

He said that Fonte deserved a straight red for that tackle near the beginning, and I had to stop myself throwing the remote at the TV. It wasn't even a foul.

****, in my haste to compile my ratings I forgot Fonte nearly cost us a goal by playing Anita onside. Thus, on reflection he goes down to an 8.5 (still magnificent) and I'll avoid the obvious and go for Schneiderlin as MOTM. His performances, especially at SMS, this season have been unreal. Countless crucial interceptions and tackles, great vision and perfect execution of passes, absolute joy to watch. He's a Hansen analysis on MOTD away from being considered one of the most complete and consistent CMs in the league this season IMO.

That save from Gazzaniga is worth a 9 all on its own! Awesome stuff!

    Ramirez is my MOTM.

Apparently got really stuck in today and scored and provided an assist.

Gazza 6.75 - would be 7 but for a throwback to the Swansea game!

All the defense get a 7 - Newcastle were so lacklustre, they were good when called upon however. Collectively was so happy with them, we look like a unit!:D

Cork 9 - we're a lot better with this lad in the team! Works so hard for everyone.
    Scheiderlin - 8 - a solid performance once again!

Puncheon - 8 - great game again, good link up play with Lallana a few times and unlucky not to score.
Gaston - 8.5 - When this boy plays ball, WOW, he is immense, woulda been MoM and a 9/10 but for one moment where he should have played punch in, and his two flimsy flops in the box!
Lallana - 9 MoM - A real captains performance, looked very determind today, made numerous tackles and was simply majestic around their area.

Lambert - 7.5 - Led the line well, unlucky not to score!

Ref - The worst i have ever seen in living memory.

Puncheon Ramirez and Lallana were class, their play and movement are amazing. All should get 9's at least, Cork and Morgan partnership is amazing would say at least 8's for them.

I've seen them given, feared the worst when the tackle went in, considering the treatment we get from referees lately.
