Firstly, I felt the 1st half performance wasnt good, much improved in the 2nd Kelvin Davis - 6, Made one error that could have been costly but otherwise not really tested Frazer Richardson - 7, Improved in the 2nd half Jose Fonte - 7, Solid at the back, not fond of his haircut Jos Hooiveld - 6, Not his usual dominating self IMO Danny Fox - 7, Solid game, looked good defensively and going forward, his best for the club Richard Chaplow - 7, Got into some good positions Dean Hammond - 6, Bit ineffective 1st half Jack Cork - 8 MOM, Superb Display Adam Lallana - 6, Didnt get too many oppurtunities Rickie Lambert - 8, Superb all-round play Guly - 7, Poor 1st Half, Improved 2nd Half Morgan Schneiderlin - 7, Some neat passing Steve De Ridder - 6, Didnt get too many oppurtunities Lee Barnard - Good to see him back Thoughts? Post your ratings below
Davis - 7 Richardson - 8 Fonte - 7 Hooiveld - 7 Fox - 8 Chaplow - 7 Hammond - 7 Cork - 9 Lallana - 7 Guly - 7 Lambert - 9 MOTM Schneiderlin - 7 De Ridder - 6 Barnard - 6
ive never had a problem with Hooiveld? I think he has been class for us and would love to see him get a perm deal i just didnt think he was as good as he has been today sorry but thats how i saw it
I know it's your opinion but how did Jos not have his usual dominant game? Brighton didn't get a sniff and Lambert an 8 for a hatrick and a superb all round display? hmmmmmmmm.
Sometimes i wonder about saints fans... Yes big Rickie Scored 3, header was brilliant and good penalties as always but Guly makes the team tic atm going forward, also i felt you couldnt really fault Jos and Jose they dominated at the back they didnt have anything up front, normally the fiery Craig makale-smith is getting oppotunites but not a pip, also de ridder came on and did the right thing pass and move pass and move just my thoughts. also how lucky were we with that first penalty, and red card although later on could have had a pen and that two footer from behind should have been a red. COYR
Hoover didn't have much opposition to show up against, he was as solid as a rock at the back and his distribution was fairly decent, and he was the first to go over to the crowd at the end, I am warming to this guy, no telling what will happen if he gets a contract, time will tell.
Guly didn't get much of a look in during the first 45, but his movement, chasing down and enthusiasm in the 2nd was a joy to behold, pity he didn't get on the score sheet, but that goes for De Rid and Barney, would have loved them to have scored too.
Davis - 6 - nothing to do Richardson - 8 Fonte - 8 Hooiveld - 7 Fox - 8 Chaplow - 8 Hammond - 7 Cork - 9 - superb Lallana - 7 Guly - 7 Lambert - 10 - just OUTSTANDING! MOTM! Schneiderlin - 7 De Ridder - 6 Barnard - 6
Davis 6 Richardson 8 Fonte 7 Hoiveld 7 Fox 8 Chaplow 7 Hammond 7 Cork 9 Lallana 7 Guly 7 Lambert 10 Peter Walton 0..... well actually I'll give him 1 for winding up Poyet so much and sending off Taricho
Davis - 6 Richardson - 8 Fonte - 7 Hooiveld - 7 Fox - 7 Chaplow - 8 Hammond - 6 Cork - 8 Lallana - 7 Guly - 5 - I thought he was awful today not sure how he's getting 7s Lambert - 8 I thought Guly was woeful today, Lambert was also poor first half but had a brilliant second half after the goal. Kelvin didn't look particularly safe at the back. Hammond looked a bit off the pace through out.
i too thought he was awful, but made some great movement, touches etc in the 2nd that bounced his ratings up i would say
think the first half was hard for guly, brighton always had 7 players behind the ball. Lambert went out wide leaving guly with 3 defenders. Not our players fault for the first half- just negative niggly tacticts from a crappy manager
Although I was listening while working, I caught Dave Merrington's comment that he thought Guly had a super game. He was talking about a lot of back tracking and lots of intelligent running off the ball. It's the off-the-ball stuff that often gets overlooked. I would give Guly the benefit of the doubt. After all, he has been superb in previous games. Just because he hasn't been able to score doesn't mean he hasn't had a near blinder.
