see I seem to remember when England played Argentina it was a bit of a grudge match - maybe I'm wrong. When Southampton played Portsmouth it was a bit of a grudge match - maybe I'm wrong but I do recall a couple of anti Portsmouth posts on here!

It was a grudge match because of some famous previous meetings between England and Argentina. How does an Argentine manager being appointed at Saints have anything to do with that? Are you going to hate all Argentines because of Maradona's handball and Beckham's dubious red card?

but I am guilty of being English, wanting to support an Engish team from my home town in England with an English manager and home grown English players - I think that's what the FA wants too?

Ok people just a little reminder lets not get involved in racist comments or racist accusations or innuendo.

Having calmed down from the initial disbelief at NC's decision today, I have started looking into the new gaffer and potential targets etc - after all, the manager has to work with the chairman and NC obviously thinks this guy is a better fit so not much we can do about it.

Anyway, the most likely transfer seems to be Joan Verdu, who is Espanyols best player by a distance and who is out of contract in the summer. Lots of clubs looking at him and he can play anywhere in midfield or on the wing.

Another possible signing could be Alvaro Vazquez who is said to be one of the best young talents in Spain at the moment. His goalscoring record doesn't fill me with excitement but he was one of Espanyols best players before they sold him to Getafe to ease their financial burdens.

Add to that the fact that this guy has links with Barcelona, Jose Mourinho and an Espanyol side who are currently in a similar position to use in La Liga, and I like to think we can expect a few gems to come in to suppliment what we have got.

Don't be silly, Pochettino won't have any say in transfers. Cortese is the only person allowed to deal with transfers.
