Must be that time of the year. Several places repeating the Lambert to West Ham and Adam to Newcastle codswallop!

Somoene needs to ask these paper why would a new, financially comfortable PL club likely to be scraping for survival until the end of the season, and with the biggest financial reward yet available for survival, sell arguably their most influential/loved two players (also their most loyal up to this point?) halfway through the season? Is so anti-logic as to be laughable, particularly as both those players know that they will have the opportunity to stay in the PL (should we be relegated, whcih we won't) with another club next season should they so wish.

What the papers don't realise is that this is a journey and part of a strategy and five-year plan to end up not merely survivors in the PL, but competitors. It's not like that journey has finished now we're here - why would anyone want to leave - would be like throwing yourself from a full-speed bullet train between stations when the buffet cart has almost reached your seat...

Zenit fans don't seem to want black or gay players in their team. This must unsettle some if not all of the black players and some white players at their club.
Bruno Alves seems like a solid strong defender. Axel Witsel is 23 and has got potential.

The only things that worry me are the wages. Axel is on £50k pw and Bruno is on £40k

No one in our main squad will leave in January, unless part of a swap deal for a player we need. Certainly won't be the likes of Lallana, Lambert and Ramirez. They seemed to have failed to notice that we are trying to stay up here. Also part of the media mentality that players must want to be anywhere apart from Southampton and that other teams (including teams like West Ham!) have only to snap their fingers. We have a happy ship here and we are not the tiny team that the media and fans of other clubs seem to think.

Lionel Messi has agreed to extend his contract with Barcelona until 2018, so I'm afraid he won't be coming here on a permanent transfer. He could still come as short term cover for Lallana though...

(I put that last bit in especially for you Trixie)

In truth Guys it is almost inevitable that we will lose some of our youngsters before they have reached their full potential. When you have the likes of Wenger a co sniffing around. Sadly we do not have the kind of turnover down here at the moment to pay the kind of wages they can earn else where. We probably need around another 15000 or so mortals to turn up each week. (I know that means a ground extension as well) Until we hit 45/47000 regularly we are not going to get into the big boys league. Just thought it worth a mention......

Metro has us interested in the Wolfsburg centre back Simon Thorup Kjær . Anyone know much about him?

Was thought to be a monster in the making, and a huge win for Wolfsburg with half of Europe sniffing around, but hasn't really established himself. Still young and with considerable potential, though.

There's been loads of talk about him on here since the summer. He's an extremely talented player who went through a rather long patch of bad form. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Not sure about this one!

Southampton are being linked with a swoop for Brentford's in-demand midfielder Harry Forrester in the January window.
Saints boss Nigel Adkins is not afraid of placing his trust in players from the lower leagues to help the club stave off relegation from the Premier League this season.
Nathaniel Clyne and Jay Rodriguez arrived from Championship sides Crystal Palace and Burnley respectively during the summer and it now appears that he has set his sights on 21-year-old Forrester.
The youngster, who joined the Bees from Aston Villa 18 months ago after failing to make the grade at Villa Park, has played an integral role in Uwe Rosler's side's nine-match unbeaten run which has moved them up to second in the League One table.
It is thought Villa's current boss Paul Lambert would like to pull off a £300,000 buy-back swoop for Forrester, who initially moved to Villa in a £1million deal from Watford in 2008.
Premier League strugglers Reading and Scottish champions Celtic have all closely monitoring his situation ahead of the January transfer window.

Very good young player. Definitely better than Fonte and Yoshida.
