Is it the same situation as Oxo? Shaw is on a provisional contract...was Oxo on the same? How far can we resist a move? Shaw must know that he wouldn't walk into a top side's back line. On the other hand, he can see Oxo and Theo have done well on a financial front. We are not a small side that can be railroaded, but depends on legal position and Shaw himself. If Shaw can help keep us in the PL, then 10-15 million would not compensate us.

And even if Arsenal had that money, would their fans be happy about it? Hell no.

I don't think there's any doubt Arsenal have enough money but the fans would expect money to be spent on player who will improve the current first team, not in 2 or 3 years.

Blackpool boss Michael Appleton has confirmed there have been talks with other clubs regarding 20-year-old Tom Ince. Ince, who left Liverpool in 2011, has scored 13 Championship goals this season and attracted attention from his former club, as well as Manchester United.

Can't see us being one of them then!

Never know, Clyne turned down Man U to come here and play more football. Happens quite a lot when the big boys show an interest in top Championship players.

He turned down Newcastle, United were watching him but he never had the option to go there.

I wouldn't worry about Shaw, we definitely won't sell him in January and he'll probably sign a new contract in the summer and stay for the foreseeable future. He's only 17 and has only just broken into the team, he's not going to be thinking about moving yet.

If shaw goes next season to be honest i am gonna kind of give up a bit on youth, if we cant keep hold of him in the premier league then what is the point, sure keep doing it for the money, but it all seems pointless with them being shipped of like a conveyor belt

The academy is designed primarily to provide us with players trained to play our style, but it also provides a source of income which can be used to finance the academy. If the end result is making other teams pay indirectly for the academy to produce Saints players, then we are on to a winner. You win some, you lose some...and Shaw is still with us at the moment.

I'm going to make up another rumour soon.

Posted one a few years back on footballrumours.co.uk and within the space of an hour someone posted it on here and tried to convince everyone it was 100% true <laugh>

Luke Shaw's pro contract kicked in when he turned 17. He's going to be offered a new, improved contract when he is 18 in July.
