As the title says, Nigel is getting an official vote of confidence from the men at the top tomorrow.

Do people think it is right or wrong to do so? Many have called for the club to comment and they are now going to.

Will be interesting to see the wording of it, whether we are talking long-term commitment or for the forthcoming few fixtures.

    How do you know? Curious...

Delighted and I said nothing would happen regarding him leaving... :)

Surely of you had any sort of 'evidence' you would share it.

All you've done is written a statement, which any if us could do...

I'm not going to say where it originally came from (for obvious reasons).

I'm not sure if it is a good or bad thing that they are doing it, I think as said it depends a lot on the wording of whether this is just short-term to keep the press quiet for a while, or whether it is re-affirming support for Nigel in terms of the 'vision' for the club.

It was a question "Adkins gone?" - which it then appeared he would be. I got the vibe he was. As it transpires Cortese had more faith than I did following the regular meeting, clearly.

How's that? I'm saying it will happen tomorrow. We can only wait and see if there is a statement released by the club via the website tomorrow.

Considering so many people say Cortese does not comment on such things, tomorrow we can see.

If it does pan out, then I'd be a bit concerned. Its just not how Nic rolls is it.

Not normally. Which is what made me phrase the initial question. Do people welcome it?

It's certainly a change to club policy. But then maybe Cortese has decided he should show support for the man at the helm.

Whether that is in terms of the whole season, or just to keep the press off Nigel's back for a bit, who knows.

He did it before, and he reemphasised the clubs vision and things that were going on behind the scenes.

Hope it's not all about Nigel.

I might be on my own with this one, but I like the way NC doesn't do updates. Some chairman seem all to kean to give the media some sound-bites & keep them happy, whereas NC just goes about his job of running the club. Might be a bit frustrating some days, but far less damaging on others.

For example, Dave Whelan is the opposite to Nicola Cortese....

See, I quite like Dave, but its a different kettle of fish. He's an ex player in a rugby town he's tried to drag into football. He talks a lot of sense, he has an opinion almost on everything. NC is a astute businessman who only a short few years ago saved a magnificent club from going under with a very close friend. And the rest is history......but in the making. Very different people, with totally different ways. Hard to say which is right.

I prefer Cortese's approach of letting the manager do the talking. If he is going to make a public statement that is a departure and it will be analysed intently, both the content and the fact it has been done!

I hope, if he does say something, that he gives Adkins firm backing. It would not be productive to make a statement which calls his position into question in any way.

Yep, exactly how I feel. He has to be very careful with how it is structured and how much focus is applied to certain areas.

It can leave Cortese open, but fair play to him if he is genuinely standing by Nigel.

    If the statement is worded:

"Nigel Adkins is the manager of Southampton Football Club and will still be the manager next season"

    Then it is good news.

    However if it reads:

"Nigel Adkins is the manager of Southampton Football Club and will remain in that role for the foreseeable future"

Then it will be pointless and CUE THE LAZY JOURNOS (plus we know what the latter means :(

Lets hope for the former and also hope the pre-season 'Blackmore blog' statements are addressed at the same time.
