what does everyone think our team will look like next season? NA says more signings will arrive, but as it stands who would be in your 11?? David, Butterfield,Harding,Fonte,Chamberlain,Lallana,Hammond,Cork,Lambert,Barnard I think Cork and Deano will be our new CM partnership with chappers and morgan to provide cover and other options!!
Hi everybody! I have seen it mentioned on a few articles previously but with the signing of Jack Cork I thought it might be interesting to see what everyone's best XI would be for the first game of the season vs Leeds (presuming everyone is fit). For me it's this (and I actually think barring the signing of a new pacey striker this is what it will be): GK Davis RB Richardson CB Jaidi CB Fonte LB Harding DM Hammond (c) CM Spider CM Corky AMR Chamberlain AML Lallana S Lambert Subs: Bart, Seaborne, Butterfield, Dickson, Chaplow, Guly, Barnard. However, I am hoping/expecting a couple more signings by then but still! Thoughts? In Nicola & Nige we trust.
I have been a right idiot and made a post basically exactly the same as this!!! Doh! I went for: Davis, Richardson, Harding, Jaidi, Fonte, Hammond, Spider, Corky, Chambo, Lala and Lambert in a 4-1-2-2-1 / 4-3-3 formation like we played against United in the FA Cup last year! Think it looks like our strength will be in midfield, which it hasn't been for a long long time in my opinion! Also happy with any of our full back options (Richardson/Butterfield, Harding/Dickson)
Just seen that there is a post basically exactly the same as this one!!! My bad. Still feel free to comment! Doh
Yeh I would be more than happy with either Richardson or Butterfield. Think Nige likes Butterfield for his experience behind Chambo. Just think that if given games Richardson could get back to how good he was when at Leeds (Correct me if im wrong!) where I believe he got best RB in League one season before last. We are lucky to have 2 quality RB's though thats for sure
I like to see Guly or Barnard with Lambert. And what about Connelly on the bench. But who to leave out...never had problems like that before!
We're either that good that we only need 10 or there is another great signing on the way that only he knows about!
Ha. Oh yeh completely forgot about Connelly! I know I said presuming everyone is fit originally but think in my head I presumed he was injured! tough dicisions need to be made... maybe a place on the bench instead of one of the full backs if Connelly fit. IF
Ha. Fingers crossed he is. Quality player when fit. Do wonder what happens if we bring in a pacey striker (which we seem to be after) where does Connelly fit in then?.... 5th Choice?
He got a new contract so Adkins must rate him, but who wouldn't..fit he is a class player. You never know this could be his year. He came good for us at the end of last season after being out for a while..got a soft spot for him.
Ha. Yeh I don't quite have a soft spot for him... prefer Lambert Barnard and Guly! But still I would not be upset if he played alongside Lambert thats for sure. He also has plenty of Championship experience which I think was a factor in him getting his new contract
Personally I think any team we have MUST contain Schneiderlin. His ball winning ability and harassing of the opposition often goes un-noticed but is key to the team. I like Hammond and all, but he gives the ball away too often and generally looks uncomfortable with it at his feet. Schneiderlin exchanging passes with Lallana is at times a thing of beauty, and with Jack Cork mixed in, its gonna be a dream come true. But saying that, we may well have had these guys playing together last time Cork came to town?
Yes they did play together 3 years ago but they were all in their teens, all 3 have developed and have been selected to play for their country at U21 level. Add to that the 17 year old Chambo (also an England U21 player) and we have probably the most promising, young midfield in the Championship. If these four stay together, then their best years are ahead of them and who knows? they might even gain full International caps whilst with Saints and be our midfield in the Premier League.
