The club can’t choose when Yom Kippur is. Not marking it, when they mark the other religious festivals, would be a mistake.

Basically you’re feeling a bit antisemitic and just wanted to let the forum know?

Yes, Saints have many Jewish fans i'm sure and former players Martin Chivers and Eyal Berkovic are for certain.

Oh do go away OSV .

You’re outlook is often quite baffling , and I’m not in the mood for your crap tonight .

    I don’t give a flying **** what peoples religions are , I honestly don’t .

What I DO care about is people getting along .

I don’t think the club should have posted this UNDER THE CURRENT SITUATION .

I mean just look at the response on the FB post .

Pro Palestinian / Pro Israeli .

    Nasty images .

Posting anything like that FOR WHATEVER GROUP OF PEOPLE , Is IMHO Asking for trouble .

I would normally agree , I don’t think they should do it for any religion , but that’s my opinion .
I just feel it’s inappropriate at this particular time to put out what they have .

I think the problem there is the people on Facebook rather than the club, tbh.

It would have made more of a worrying statement had they not posted it tbh, seeing as they've always posted on holiday celebrations previously.

I am also an atheist. I don’t want religion ****ing things up. But it is about consistency. Once the club celebrates one religion, it kinda has to celebrate them all.

Let’s just remember that being Jewish does not in any way link you to the actions of Israel, the political state.

They have done this for almost every mainstream religious holiday for years, would be an odd place to draw the line now. Wishing Jews worldwide a happy Yom Kippur has nothing to do with the Israel-Hamas-Hezbollah situation.

I'm not sure why this is a surprise, its really not new.

I hate humans. Our desire to take everything out of context is unreal. We have Jewish fans and let them be appreciated. They have to put up with merry Christmas posts at Christmas. Actually to be fair if it upsets you I'd rather you weren't a fan of my club and ****ed off.

An interesting story from the Echo, about Sabin Barinaga (Sabino on a Wikipedia page). Never heard of him before but was a prolific scorer for Saints B team, before returning to Spain, not having been able to get a work permit.
His biggest claim to fame is probably scoring the first goal at the Bernabéu stadium, during his years at Real Madrid and scoring 4 in one El Clasico.

By harnessing brain power and speeding up ability to process information, players are being helped to fulfil their potential

Four years ago, Arsène Wenger was asked what he thought would be the next game-changer in football. His answer was neuroscience. “Why? Because we are at the end of the improvement of physical speed,” Wenger said. “In the last 10 years, the power and speed of individual players has improved, but now you have sprinters everywhere. The next step will be to improve the speed of our brains.”

“We had Champions League players performing at the highest level [taking the test],” Castien says. “The question was: what do they share? And brain-wise, what do people playing the same sports at a lower level not share? We found that the speed of information processing was one of the clear building blocks of game intelligence.”

The test is now used by more than 25 clubs, from PSV Eindhoven to Real Sociedad and newly promoted Southampton, as a tool for talent identification. Castien argues that a lack of knowledge around a player’s neurological ability, or of their potential, is one of the reasons why so many promising footballers never go on to develop a career in the game.
