Today I started going through some old hard disk drives when I came across a stash of Saints photographs in a few folders. They are ones I've collected off the Net at various times, or been given by various Saints friends. There is one folder which has some really good photos, and I can't remember how I came across them. Anyway, I'll post a few up if I can get them uploaded to my Google Photos [There's always a slight problem, it's never seamless] and share the nostalgia. Even the younger ones should like them because many are from WGS's era.

Remember the infamous Beattie 50p header against ManU in the 88th minute..? Well here it is, and if You [the right person reading this] took it, then it's a great football action photograph:

I've discovered a few of the photos associated with Beatts cupping his ear when scoring against Pompey. I'll see if I can upload those at some point.

Here's the goal which started all the mayhem with the cupped ear:

The abuse that laddie in red and white took. I'll post that when I've found it again.

A rather young looking Brett Omerod in that first pic. against Man U. Missing the ball as usual, but we could do with him now?

I'd say Brett Ormerod had very cleverly suckered the goalkeeper into miss timing his punch by some abrasive & insulting remarks about his relationship with Mrs Forlan... allowing Beattie a free header.

Brett was always a sly one.

Not sure Brett was that bright, but I like your train of thought?

Brett was/is pretty smart for a footballer. Say he certainly had more life-skills than you often see from players who live in a bubble.

Many used to think that David Prutton was smart because he spoke quite eruditely, but we all saw how thick he could be on the pitch.

Right, better get these pictures up before too many much more exciting things happen at Saints.

Beatts, having just scored, gets up and walks over to the crowd and finds Pompey faces. So it's a face off. Brave lad. He's actually grinning here. Look at the reception:

He turns to look at the bench. He can't believe the language he's receiving:

So we get the finger behind the ear picture, as Brett runs in to congratulate:

Brett and Rory have caught up, and Beatts puts his hand to his mouth, as if to realise... omg, I've scored against your lot..!?!

Ref Graham Pol gives Beatts a ticking off, but as he finally runs back into position he gives the Pompey fans one last gesture:

Thanks to whoever took the pictures. I'm celebrating them, not stealing anyone's thunder. Cheers

Have a look on youtube at his goals, left foot, right foot, headers, from distance, free kicks
Very good striker - did nothing at Everton?

Indeed. Of course he scored against us, but that's almost de rigeur for ex-players versus Saints. He didn't celebrate it. I don't know why players don't. It usually appears a bit lame, but Beatts seemed to be genuinely peed off that he'd done his duty against his old club.

Prutts is an absolute lad. He was seeing the best mate of my bird back in early '07. The girls lived together, so basically I'd be bonking downstairs while he was bonking upstairs. Many morning high-fives were shared between the two of us. Good times.
