I couldn't really care less how England do,there is only one team i love and that's saints,i'd prefer saints doing well over England any day of the week but what i wanted to know is how other people feel.

Would you prefer england to win the world cup? or saints to win any of the domestic cups? excluding the JPT obviously.

Sorry if this has been done before.

I would sacrifice the England team on an altar if that would guarantee Saints success.

I would rather saints get to the PL in the next two years, than england winning world cup.

Watching Saints is like life & death to me, dropping through the leagues and falling into administration was a catastrophe and it physically hurt, paradoxically winning the JPT was the greatest feeling ever and i dream of victory at Wembly again.
I think when we're at the finals my affection for the national team peaks and i really want them to win but in between i'm much less bothered about England. Meaningless friendlies and disappointing qualifiers don't hold the same excitement to me. England will always get to choose the best English players and can (seemingly) get whichever manager they want. I was totally gutted when we lost in the world cup but a drop in the world rankings is hardly noticed.

Saints Success > England Winning Anything

It is understandable in one way when you are comparing England Loyalties to Saints loyalties, that you would more than likely err on the side of Saints. Especially if you are Scottish!!!
At the moment the England sides are not playing any exiciting enough football for me. The internationals tend not to be so good as local teams fighting for promotion or trying to stave off relegation.
If they qualify for the finals, interest will be regenerated in local fans. The reason probably because they tend to play the finals in June when your own local team are taking a break we are all bored with out our weekly dose of football. Especially if they start doing a lot better than they have in other finals.

I am Southampton first, Hampshire second, English third, British 4th and European 5th, that is where my allegiances lay.

Southampton first as England are just so uninspiring to watch and never seem to be able to play as a team!
Its a shame but last night just goes to show that we are not improving, although Wales deserved something from the game and with a bit of quality up front they would have had it!

Saints every time - I only watch England in the Euros or World Cup - don't even bother watching the qualifiers. If we don't qualify it doesn't bother me at all. I find international football very boring and even Champions League has gone the same way - I haven't watched one of those games for about 5 years.

England... don't get me started. Can you imagine how awful it would be if by some miracle we did win the world cup? The media would be creaming themselves. St George flags hanging out of every Chav's orifice and lots of fake "national pride". All the glory hunters would be claiming to have loved the game for years, prices would probably go up at every club to try to capitalise on the glory hunters. The Queen would be handing out knighthoods to the likes of John Terry and Ashley Cole. The awful national anthem would be sung 25 times a game at every game by the same morons who sing it 25 times a game at England matches (why do they do that?!? It's a terrible dirge of a "song").

MY GOD, IT WOULD BE TERRIBLE.

Southampton 100% - England 0%. I only watch England games for the comedy value really.

Thankfully, this is one miracle I can't see ever happening.

International football can never get you as fired up, ever.

Saints > England, by a mile.

Saints first. Bearing in mind how much I loved it when we won the JPT, I can't begin to describe how mental I'd go if we won the FA Cup or League Cup.

I'll always support England in the World Cup and Euros, but I just don't feel as close to England as I do my beloved Saints.

    Saints all the way.

I think this sums it up for me too. I will always get involved with an England campaign, but when it comes down to what really matters it has to be Southampton all the way.

I used to say that if either Saints or England won another trophy in my lifetime, I'd die a happy man. Now Saints have won the JPT which counts, just. England won't win a thing as long as I've got a hole in my @rse, and frankly I'm not bothered.

Saints all the way. I'm fed up of watching their massive egos day in, day out. Their bank balance is clearly more important to them! <doh>

Saints all the way, we have players that want to be successful and I couldn't ask for more than that :)

    <ok>

When I was a kid it would have been Southampton and England equally together.
As an adult, and as far as football is concerned, I'm Southampton 1st... That's it. Nothing else registers on the radar.

That just about sums it up for me too. Although I wouldn't say I couldn't care less whether England win or lose, I'm not too bothered if I watch them or not.

I do wonder though if England played more like Saints (you know, just like Brazil) then we might all be more enthusiastic. The dross that has been served up by overrated prima donnas for a number of years is enough to drive people away. On top of that there are a number of the current England squad who I actually dislike and feel no inclination to support when they are playing for my country.
Which leads to another point. If Adam Lallana or Jack Cork were selected to play for England in the next year or two, do you think your feelings towards supporting England would change?

A very good question! I would say, if any Saints players were playing for any international side I would probably support them. I remember back in the late 1960's when Ron Davies played for Wales I actually supported Wales in the Home Internationals, even when they played England. I got some stick for it at school, I can tell you.

Saints all the way. Even my loyalty to Northern Ireland comes before England! England are a bunch of overhyped, overpaid, talentless, scared individuals. They'll never again reach the same heights as Spain did last year...
