Saints fan in peace. Looking forward to Anfield on Saturday. Have to say I was hoping for a Suarez booking last night as he scares the hell out of me. We are playing and defending much better than at the start of the season though so think it will be a close match.Lambert in particular will be really up for an appearance in front of the Kop!

Are you likely to play the same 11 as last night? Are you worried about any Saints players?

Thanks for the post. You do seem to have sorted the defensive problems from early season and that Lambert seems a good player.

I cant see Rodgers playing the same team three times in 7 days. But we dont have the squad to make to many changes.

I worry about Sterling a bit if he plays. He has never done three games in a week before at this level.
In fact I dont think he has even started two games in a week at this level. He has made a few sub appearances in Europe and played most of the Hearts game. I would think about bringing Assaidi, or even Cole (judged on his performance in this role against Young Boys) in for this one.

TBH I havnt been impressed with our midfield much these last few weeks. They need a really good show. But Lucas may be back for this (maybe on the bench).

I really am not sure who I'd play for this game. Part of me says mass rotation.

    -----------Reina------------
    Wisdom Skrtel Agger Johnson
    -----------Gerrard----------
    ------Shelvey--Sahin-------
    --Assaidi---Suarez--Suso---

But part of me says diont get carried away after one defeat.

    Changes clearly need making though.

I have to admit I dont know the Saints team very well.

Who do you think we should be worried about/ watching out for?

Ramirez seems to have settled in and is playing well, we will have to watch his free kicks.

    Hello

Looking forward to the game. Hoping there will be a backlash from our players after last night.

You're in good form and i'd pinch Lallana off you anyday!

I've also got a fiver on with my worksmate who is a Saints fan.

Liverpool win I win. Saints draw or win he gets it.

  7. Bloody hope not! Downing should have been out of the reckoning a long time ago, no idea why he's been given the left back slot recently. Henderson did well against Swansea but was very poor last night so I expect him to be dropped too.

I'd be happy with something like this...

    Reina
    Wisdom - Skrtel - Agger - Johnson
    Gerrard - Sahin
    Suso
    Sterling - Suarez - Enrique

Ramirez is the obvious pick. If our defense plays like they did last night then Lambert too <ok>

To be honest if things had gone better against the Swans and Spuds then I'd have been hoping for a suarez booking as well.

I don't mean that offensively, but there's no doubt that I'm more worried about us conceding against the Saints than us scoring past them.

I have a feeling that Sahin might come into midfield for us. Either him or Shelvey anyway, hopefully in Henderson's place, as Sahin's creativity or Shelvey's attacking instincts might be more useful than Hendo's work rate.

I'm very worried about Rickie Lambert. He's pretty much your version of Grant Holt.

Southampton are playing very well at the moment.
    They pass well and quick.
Lambert, Lallana and Ramirez can all score.
Will be a tricky one for Liverpool. Rodgers and the players must be feeling under pressure, lose this and it will be amplified.
Liverpool should win but it will be fascinating.
Has Rodgers rotated the squad enough in this period?

By the way, check out our first-half against West Brom last night....nobody in the Premier could have lived with us, near ****ing perfect :)

You just about managed a draw against us at the New Vetchfield so WBA must have had an off night.

Well, my predictions have been pretty accurate so I can see why you'd say that

    Have you seen it though?
Should be able to find that 1st half somewhere on the Internet.
Rodgers NEVER had us playing like that. I watch a lot of football and I can't remember seeing a Premier team playing as well as we did in that first 45 in a long, long, long time.

Think it will be a tough game but we should win.

We're in trouble if we don't.

Fair ****s you played well down here, we did well enough but weren't quite on it (moves broke down at crucial times...complete opposite of last night's 1st half where EVERYTHING went right).

I was there when Rushy scored us the winner against Germany to inflict on them their 1st loss as World Champions after the 1990 World Cup. Suppose that means Wales were briefly the best team in the world right? :)
