Saints fan in peace. Just wondered what your thoughts were on Tuesdays game. We seem to be making a habit of our ex players scoring against us so Theo and Alex must be rubbing their hands! Defensively we have improved since our drubbing at your place earlier in the season but I can't see us keeping a clean sheet. That said Lambert will give you real problems so I'm hoping we can stop Cazorla and sneak a 3-2 win! Thoughts?
We will be looking to keep going with this excellent run of results. You couldn't probably have got a worse time to play us. Still, football has a habit of making fools out of people, so I will not say what you are hoping for is impossible. I'd worry though that if you let in 3 goals against Stoke then even if you score 3 it might not be enough - ask Newcastle. Cazorla was quiet v Newcastle, but now Jack is back you have someone else to worry about.
Yes it will be a very tough game and ofcourse you are favorites and the better team , but in our defence we may have let 3 in against Stoke yes , but we also scored 3 which is almost unheard of of late at the Brittania . Yes you have many threats but so do we Lambert , Lallana , Ramirez , Rodriguez etc . We have had no problems scoring against anyone and have been 10 seconds from beating man utd at st marys . You deserve alot of respect but Southampton at st marys isnt perhaps the easy fixture that many may think , ask United , Villa , Reading ,Newcastle . I can see two outcomes either an arsenal rampage or us outscoring you and nicking it ...Should be a good game and its a sell out crowd .Safe trip down
I think that if it goes wrong for Southampton they will lose by at least a five goal margin. There's a hunger going forward for Arsenal. Everybody up front has got a lot to prove. However, it's just as likely to be a close game.
I'm expecting a 1 or 2 goal victory for Arsenal, but dont think it will be a great match. After the elation of Newcastle I just cant see it being another game like that.
I really think it will be a bit of a free for all, neither defences are exactly great (although you guys have improved alot in the last few weeks) i do see our better attacking qualaties over shadowing yours eventually. High scoring win ala newcastle/reading 5-3 or 4-2 something like that.
Unfortunately no matter who says He either is or isnt , knowone will know until most likey the day ! ....Adkins never lets anyone know until sometimes the teamsheet being called out at st Marys , he has a massive thing about not letting the opposition have any preparation or team news . I hope he is fit as he really can make a difference ........im also hoping that chamberlin and walcott trip over eachother getting off the coach and end up in an injured ball on the floor
I agree it could be an interesting game ..you have the better quality but we are not the same team that you beat 6-0 at Emirates , will you bring many down ?
Another Saints fan in peace. I think it will be a close game with maybe Saints nicking it. We scored 3 at Stoke and your defence looked far from great against Newcastle. It's your attacking players, plus Wilshere that I'm worried about.
We have played 27 away games at home & abroad this year and sold all our allocation on every occasion. The club gave every fan at Wigan a Christmas card and £10 voucher for this very reason
Arsenal have the best away defensive record in the league. Don't believe the crap everyone spouts about our defense. At home we tend to attack more and leave a few more gaps, but away from home we keep it tight. So far this season Reading are the only team to score more than one goal against us when we visit, and we were 4 up by then.
Well that's cheered me up! Joking aside I expect usb to get a couple tomorrow but it's whether we can keep you out at the other end. Lambert is back in scoring mode.
