Hi all, just started a game as Southampton on FM 2011 and was wondering if anyone has any tips on the best way to get promoted, i.e. best formation/ good players to get in etc. Thanks for any help.
you might as well wait for football manager 2012 demo in a week or 2, followed by the full game at end of october ! but febian brandy is a superb free player, alex smithies gk for £500k are ones that I recall off the top of my head
Yeah, but FM12 just around the corner, i'm not quite sure why you'd bother starting a new game now. But as you've asked, i found recalling Puncheon from his loan at Blackpool to be very, very helpful. His combined total of goals and assists was over 20 for me in my first season, in a recent saved file.
I did already have Fm 2011, its just the file corrupted so i had to start a new one and i couldnt remeber the good players needed. Just thought I would do it to tide me over to FM 2012
Yeah, puncheon is quality on FM. Don't be expecting a realistic transfer kitty, i was in the top two until January, when Cortese forced me to accept a 1.5 million bid from sunderland for lallana as it was "too good to refuse". And then Man U took chamberlain off me in the same window for around 4million. For some reason sports interactive still thought we had no financial clout when they made FM2011.
You don't need to sign anyone in the first season. Save your money and you'll have a pretty nice budget when you get into the Championship. My most successful tactic with Saints is a pretty standard 4-4-2, with Guly and Lambert up front - Guly as deep lying forward (support) and Lambert as advanced forward. However if you would rather play Barnard, use him as a poacher. Lallana plays best as he does in real life - left wing and set to cut inside. Schneiderlin as deep lying playmaker (support) and Hammond as ball winning midfielder (support). If you're on the latest patch then Chamberlain will be good enough, but rotate him for the first few games. Default back line. Sorted. The squad is quite easily the best in the league so play with an attacking mentality, short passes and high tempo.
Whats the fun in getting help with it? The whole fun of it is finding players and working out a tactic for yourself.
