Contuinuing a recent theme youir best starting 11 using only players who have come through the ranks. I struggled with a keeper and at CB. Lots of choice in midfield and upfront though. I left out all 3 of the Wallace brothers. JWP and Steve Moran to name just a few.

    Grainger

    Dodd Andruszewski Baird Shaw

    Williams Maddison

    Channon MLT Bale

    Shearer

    Over to you.

    Cody Cropper

Dodd. Kenwyne Jones (originally a centre back?). Shaw.

    JWP. Rod Wallace. MLT. Bale.

    Walcott. Shearer. Oxlade-Chamberlin.

    I deliberately left Lallana out.

Did Cropper play for the first team? I know he was sub but did he actually get on?

Can't believe you left out Martin Chivers Lambie. He was actually born and raised in Southampton too. That Channon laddie came all the way from Orcheston on Salisbury Plain.

Probably not but I couldn't think of anyone else (I don't know who Grainger is).

I was going to suggest Gerry Gurr in goal but we signed him from the Arsenal Academy.

Sigh... those were the days when we nicked kids from Arsenal.

Gotta be Michael Poke in goal. He's at least had a good career, even if it's been in lower divisions.

Again not sure he played. Was a sub for Niemi once but dont think he got on. Good call though if he did.

Four games according to Wikipedia. I think if you can find a keeper from our academy who has had success anywhere in the Football League, he's in with a good shout here.

I'd go with Blayney in goal just for the save he made against Shearer

Good point. Supposed to be Saints from youngster to debut. So he's out. I can slide Baird across but need another CB. Have to be Mills?

    Agboola, Bennett, Waldron, Cranie, Lancashire....

ok Cranie and Lancashire are pushing it a bit, i'd go with Agboola from the great 1983/84 side

Edit: was Mark Wright one of ours or did we sign him from Oxford?

Paul Bennett was crap, I played in the same Southampton Boys team as him. It always amazed me that the club signed him up?
