Yay! A matchday! (Vin tomorrow is the day to celebrate it). Yay! a Friday game! Yay! 8pm on a Friday! Yay! vs Leicester! A common phrase you hear is that lightning doesn't strike the same place twice. This is a myth as apparently the Empire State Building gets hit about 25 times a year. Discuss.
Southampton v Leicester City Sky Sports Friday 30th April 2021 20:00 ko. Referee: Robert Jones. Assistants: Darren Cann, Mark Scholes. Fourth official: Andre Marriner. VAR: Jonathan Moss. Assistant VAR: Gary Beswick.
Won’t be watching this one as will be watching the NFL draft instead so you will be free from my super insightful comments during the game. Funnily enough the last televised Saints game I missed was also due to watching an NFL recording, it was also a Friday night game, it was also against Leicester.....
Saturday morning for me. My u13 boys have their first game of the season. So I’ll, be watching committed players who love the game and are passionate about working together to win. I was going to make a joke about my U13 team probably being fine on their own but we all know I’m talking about them. I’ll check the result when I get back.
Hey my U13 game is on at the same time, I could make this a combined match thread and post updates from here while you all watch the saints game and see who is having the most fun!
We’re playing Hurrunui Utd. It’s Division 1 but our first 11 a side sortie so not sure how it will go. Hurrunui is a bunch of farmers kids so I’ll probably have to watch for them picking it up and kicking over the posts.
My youngest grandson played his first match since lockdown last Sunday. On asking how he got on, his mum replied, 'let's just say that the effort and the enthusiasm wasn't reflected in the score'. It would be nice to write that about a Saints performance at some point, even when we lose!!!!
Sooner this season ends the better now we are out the cup. I will still watch it and hope for a win as we need a couple of wins to quell the growing discontent at Ralph's management.
I think we will see the old Saints mentality show up for this one. Their minds were elsewhere for the WBA game and we got the tactics all wrong for the semi (although some would argue we got the defensive side OK). Against spurs we wanted to prove ourselves and did until - once again - schoolboy errors undid us. Now, we really do have nothing to play for (apart from a bit of pride). The pressure will be off. They should just be able to go out and enjoy themselves. In which case we should win 2-1. Leicester have the pressure very much on them to secure the CL place.
Armstrong and JWP in the middle, please. Bertrand left-back, pretty please. Salvage some bloody pride, pretty please with sugar on top.
If Minamino could please be allowed to resume his football career, that would be great. I know he's only on loan, so naturally Ralph would ideal prefer to turn to players who will be here next season. But he's shown with his goals vs Newcastle and Chelsea that he's got that bit of class which our other options lack.
Its been said Bertie might not play again this season .....Sailsu not doubt will be LB for the remainder.
Yeah, I think it's all part of Ralph's "planning for next season" tip - hence why I think we'll see Salisu at LB again.
Well there's a possibility we'll be planning for next season in the championship unless he pulls his finger out. I'd bite your hand off for a draw at this point
Yeah, I'd take a draw right now, if offered. Though I'm more interested in you stepping up to do the next match thread (though if you do have to, it'll mean we lost this game....)
