Bet Victor still listing him to join saints as 8/1 - tried to stick £100 on it but "selection failed" - so close!! They have now updated the odds
Birmingham have terminated the contract of Garry Monk after differences over the club's desired approach to recruitment and profitability.
Sounds to me like he’s just been told that they’ve accepted a bid for Adams. I think they stated that they would have to sell one of him and Jota but maybe he took umbrage to both. I feel sorry for Monk, he’s a good coach and did well there, but I hope my suspicions are right!
I've been in favor of this move the whole time we've been attached. I'm a little less excited now, just because it's been rumored for so long and also it would be difficult to top Djenepo for sure fun. Djenepo is just my kind of player. Even if he totally sucks, I'll be amused at the way in which he sucks. But anyway, it's the right price at the right position for the right kind of player (style and age). So yeah, good job if we get it done.
Good news for us and painful for Birmingham. Brightens this long hot bus journey home this train strike has put me on.
So we're going to sign 6 new players and Ralph and Ross are spending the summer touring the world looking for the other 4. (The Liverpool scout has taken 3 months off!)
I have dreamt of this since my socialist youth! https://images.app.goo.gl/zp4YDdubya5Y6KkD9 please log in to view this image
Austin is already gone. Someone else will probably have to go if we bring in Adams. We will probably start four attacking players-- whether they are forwards or inside wingers or wingers or attacking mids playing as wingers, etc. probably doesn't matter so much. It's going to be four players, and they'll do whatever they do regardless of the name of the position. We can go ahead and mark Gallagher, Austin, and Carillo off the list. And just because everyone hates him so much, we'll remove Elyounoussi as well even though I feel like Boufal would go before he does (though they both could go). Adams Ings Djenepo Redmond JWP Armstrong Sims Long Boufal Obafemi Hesketh? Eleven players for basically four positions. I'm thinking at least three and possibly four will have to be moved or loaned out.
That’ll do Adams & Obafemi bring promise - Ings proven at this level when fit and Shane Long doing weird and wonderful Shane Long things
The issue with JWP is that our defensive-mid/generic mid pool of players is also fairly stacked. I'm not saying that I think he should go, or that the club wants him to go. But I could see the situation where JWP is no longer happy not having a guaranteed role or guaranteed starting position and given that there are plenty of teams that would want him and we could get a solid price, I wouldn't say he's a lock. I think it's pretty unlikely he goes anywhere, but it's definitely possible if he raises a bit of a stink, which I really wouldn't hold against him if he did.
