    this just posted on bbc..

    1457:
I've been handed a bit of Arsenal news. The Gunners are close to completing the loan signing of Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin. The 23-year-old is set to join on a season-long basis with a view to a permanent move.

looks like he's not coming to us.....:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Good for them, quality player. We just don't have CL and we will miss out on those players until we do.

Yea he's been rumoured to be going there for the last few days. Tbh we need wingers/inside forwards/strikers all more than another midfielder

We just need to believe that the teams that beat Gomel and Bater Leverkusen were the real us. Not yesterdays.

unfortunately the difference was yesterday was a competitive match against a pl team. I admit it shouldn't be a marker of performances this seaon but a performance against Gomel and Bayern in pre-season shouldn't be enough to tell rodgers we're ok squad wise and don't need further changes still

Thats close enough to the report I read. Liverpool officials have met with his agent, and they are tying up a deal. The deal with Arsenal broke down, probably over wages. If it were to happen, it would have by now. It doesn't take over a week to tie up a loan deal. It has to have stalled. Another rumour I've read is Zenit St Petersburg have entered the bidding.

To be honest the only way that I would be reasonably happy about signing him on loan is if we get first option on one of Real's other players (as it's clear that he won't stay after his loan period), because otherwise it's just a gamble that postpones our need to sign such a player permanently, and it doesn't help that Arsenal is his preferred choice.

If he helps liverpool to a champions league finish then it's job done, but if it doesn't work out then we just have the same problem next year.

IF, and its a big if we get him, we look REALLY strong in CM with Sahin,Gerrard,Lucas,Allen competing for 3 spots in the EPL games, with Hendo n Shelvey playin EL and CC and back up in the EPL ( and Adam n Spearo hopefully transferred out)

Will give us a very strong CM and hopefully we have an option to buy him at the end of the season if we do actually get him.

The quote "it's quite far along the line" sort of signalls that chances are he'll be signing

Apparently Alonso has only 2 yrs left on his deal, and apparently doesnt wanna sign another, I can see Sahin going back to Madrid summer 2013 takin Xabis place, and Xabi back to us, he will only have 1yr left come 2013

As far as I'm concerned, a deal that involves first option on Alonso would be great

just what we need another cm, we might get in a defender and 2 keepers too before the window closes .....<grr> we need a ****ing goal poacher

  19. Sahin is a attacking CM as far as I understand. This could mean pushing Gerrard forward. Still need a poacher though <ok>

IMO Sahin would be an EXCELLENT signing

If Carroll goes, and i think he will, the money will be spent on someone who can play as a main striker

Sahin is more of a left footed Alonso than a Gerrard, plays much closer to our own goal than people think
