Ever since Cesc and Nasri left Arsenal, I've said that we've needed to replace at least one of them. Cazorla looks like a brilliant signing in the mould of a Pires/Nasri type of player. Sahin's passing abilities are superb and his creative engine looks like just what we need in the heart of MF. With a midfield containing Cazorla, Sahin, Arteta and Wilshere I think we've got some great creative attacking options - Walcott, Podolski and Giroud should get plenty of service. I'd still like to see us sign a dedicated DM though, as this was the one area that we really got overexposed in last season.
Yes - with Wilshere, Oxo and Arteta in there too our midfield options look REALLY ****ing good. I'm almost hoping we play a 451 just to fit them all in!!
cardiff fan watched motd highlights and thought you played the best football based on that some really neat movement...a bit of loyalty from some players over the years and what a side you would have...im not a supporter but do hope you do really well... john
Cazorla is a like a mixture of both, the trickery and flair of Nasri, and the playmaking ability of Fabregas. Such a great signing. Throw that in with Wilshere and Sahin, who are extremely similar players, Arteta, who we all know is one of the most intelligent players around, and possibly a new natural DM, and we will have the best midfield in the league again.
Cazorla, Wilshere, Sahin, Diaby, Arteta, Rosicky, Ramsey (with oxocube also able to play centrally) - That is a midfield completely packed with skills, creativity and passing ability. Several of those players are also able to battle for the ball. We have incredible depth and quality in the middle of the pitch. I would still like to see M'villa or similar to give us that hard edge against the more physical teams in the league but otherwise i am very happy with our midfield. Back to the best in the league yet? It will be if we get a proper DM - no doubt.
Agreed M'Vila would be the icing on the cake of a good transfer window (Brilliant but for the RVP debacle) But I think Wenger will probably not sign an out and out DM, knowing that Frimpong can come in to play that role.
I'm still not sold on Mr Dench. He showed promise before his injury but he seems too clumsy at times. I'd still rather have an established DMF but it's more likely he'll have Arteta and Sahin shifting between DMF duties. Either way, I'm happy with the team this season. At least it seems Arsene and the board are trying to make an effort this season after the start of last season's horror show.
We'll just play without an out and out DM like last season. Frimpong should be nowhere near our first team.
Well, we were horribly exposed last season through the middle of MF and our back four came under a lot of pressure. We got hit on the counter too many times, the game at Man City was a prime example. Whilst I think it's great we're adding creative quality to the sqaud, I still think we need someone to screen the MF behind the attacking players.
It seems likely that we will sign sahin and that fills me with alot of optimisim, he was fantastic for dortmund and failed to break into the real team because of injuries and well because it's real madrid. Very good technically and a great passing range, but there is also a question now of who exactly will fill the defensive midfield role and with sahin coming in we have him diaby arteta and cazorla who are all currently fit. Apparently song wasn't training as hard as he could have been towards the end of last season and the beginning of this one and if that is the case then i'm glad he has been sold. Also talk of mexes coming aswel but it says in a swap deal with bendtnar which i really can't see happening. Also just a quick question song goes to barca for £15m and modric is going to go to real for a higher fee, but last season song had more assists and was more influential in matches and he had years to run on his contract so why is he only going for £15m i think we could have got at least £20m pushing on £25m, but hey thats life but hopefully we will sign sahin and somebody else before the window shuts.
A random point about Cazorla. It annoys me that every pundit and commentator calls him "Car-Zola". Surely it's not that hard to pronounce his name?!
