Think I’ve said before but I made sure my ST was in the lower tier of the south stand where it was future proofed for safe standing. We’ve been standing ever since the stadium opened but over the summer/ last season with no fans, they’ve now added a lot more rails in the middle and upper parts of the stand too so with this news the whole south stand may eventually become safe standing. Should be quality.

I could only get behind safe standing if it were not used to increase capacity.
Some rail seat systems are allowing clubs to pile more into the area. Only if it’s one seat, one fan for me.

Some clubs will be able to increase capacity while doing it but it will still be one fan to one seat. There's no chance of ever going back to open terraces where you stand where you want.

Can vary between 1.2 and 1.9 times the amounts of seats depending on exit sizes and the depth of the stand iirc.

I understand the rail seat principal. But it should never be used to put more people in a space.

I don't see the problem as long as it's a safe amount of people. A seat folded down naturally takes more space than one folded up.

Like I say its more about the exit and concourse sizes in terms of people limits rather than the area itself.

In grounds that have rail seats, they are not wider, so you get squished IMO. It will be an interesting debate/vary across grounds.

Old grounds will be hardest to convert/should be 1 seat one fan.

Yeah it will definitely be interesting to see the differences across the country. I think the grounds most likely to get more will be those with really steep stands and it'll be extra rows rather than more seats to a row.

Agree on old grounds. No way you'd get any extra at Goodison lol.

The new ground has been designed for rail seating, so hopefully it’ll be in place from day 1.

I would look at that section IF it were 1:1 ratio.

Will it result in ticket prices coming down?

More fans less prices. Also as a cheaper ST standing than seating.

I imagine that would depend on each team. If they can keep the prices high and still fill the stadium then they will keep the prices high.

If they're not filling the stadium and think they could make more money with more volume then it might come down.

Anyone who plays with a packed stadium now probably won't lower prices.
