Ok, I know I have been more than vocal about my traditionalist views on many occasion. This includes being an advocate of 'Safe Standing'. However, it appears reading this article that our Chairman Paul Scally is supportive of standing and listening to opinion...http://www.kentnews.co.uk/sport/traditionalist_scally_not_ruling_out_terrace_return_1_2217895? Maybe he reads not606, I only jest in saying that but as they say every vote counts, therefore I don't want to miss the opportunity to put it to the vote to gauge the opinion of you the Gillingham FC Supporters. Using the words of our Chairman...“I’m a traditionalist. I like standing, I would personally have standing,” - so please help me in supporting this cause by casting your vote. Comments also welcome. The votes will be public. Allowing people choice...http://www.safestandingroadshow.co.uk/ Please vote. ps. I hasten to add I have used Priestfield as the example in this scenario to gauge votes, until such time the future of a new stadium is confirmed as under development. I hope that clarifies.
I like you BRB feel strongly about this issue and when looking to go to an away game always hope to have the opportunity to stand at a game. It has worked wonders in Germany and has many success stories, none more so than Dortmund and Schalke! I really do hope that if this new stadium plan is finalised, that we can pave the way for safe standing in Britain, why not allow supporters to have a choice as long as it is done safely.
Can I say I agree with you about safe standing Bristol City has also agreed in principle to back safe standing but even if we get permission to build our new stadium it needs a change in the law to impliment this I hope it happens as many of us older fans prefer the atmosphere that standing brings to football.
I think there is definitely a place for safe standing. Yes vote from me. Although I do also understand the idea and reasons behind the all seated stadium policy. There are positives and negatives to both. It's all about managing the risks involved with standing safely. That should be easier with smaller clubs.
If people want it then why not? It doesn't fuss me particularly but if it improves that atmosphere and the overall morale of fans then why not?
I can see the reasons why people want it as I believe that the lack of atmosphere is due to seating, however I have grew up in an era with seats so I don't know what it would be like, I am undecided however I think I would grow to like it as I am loud at times and I think the standing would suit me.
