Curious what'll happen at our club if/when safe-standing is allowed again. McNally doesn't support the idea as he lost a friend/relative (unsure which) at Hillsborough, but on the other hand it's a way to reasonably cheaply boost attendances, something the club could benefit from. Good on Bristol on taking the initiative, even if it's really only been made possible by sharing the club with a rugby team.
Judging by the pictures in the article, I can't see any benefit. There are still seats there, so there would be little additional space generated, no extra seats/standing = no extra revenue, just an upfront cost with little gain. Everyone in the lower Barclay stands most of a match anyway (or at least for periods when we offer up some excitment, rare I know!) I like the idea but the pictured solution is not in my opinion any improvement, could be a stepping stone towards something more practicle though. Bah!
It almost doubles capacity see http://www.safestandingroadshow.co.uk/the-case-for-safe-standing/case-for-3
This, coupled with the fact it is very much safer than the standing areas at, for example Hillsborough, means I'm all for it.
In that case your preaching to the converted. Looks like a great low cost way of incresing capacity, revenue and possibly atmosphere too. Bah!
