A hard fought point today which will see us safe McCarthy is a miracle worker 50 points from 93 since he arrived! Now to rebuild for next season.
ANd I thought I was always pessimistic It will take some pretty freakish results for us to go down now!
The thing is SD some of the teams below us still have to play each other and they both can't win! It has been a long hard slog this season but I think we can all now blow a huge collective sigh of relief!
Posh and Barnsley don't have to play each other and so can conceivably both win their remaining matches. If we lose both of ours that would mean relegation.
I'm sure we are all breathing a sigh of relief. Mick has performed a nigh on miracle with our defence and made us hard to beat. Optimism begins now to build and push on next season. I think it's safe to say I can now stop chewing my fingers off. As yazz once said"the only way is up"
Birmingham are safe on 58 points and all we need is a point to make us 100% safe going into the Burnley game. I still think that we are safe now on 57 points!
Fair enough Welly but it would take some real freak results to deny us safety especially when a number of teams below us still have to play each other!
We are safe. 100% safe. We don't need any more points. It would require two of Barnsley, Wolves and Posh to win both games, Blackburn to win at least one and draw the other, Huddersfield to win another and four other teams all to either draw both or win one and lose one. Huddersfield still have to play Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday play Posh, Millwall play Blackburn, Wolves play Burnley... there is absolutely no chance of every single result going against us.
Hello everyone, long time Ipswich supporter here since the early seventies. Mick has done a wonderful job since he took over and I believe for all intents and purposes we are safe, but when I put in the worst case scenario on the BBC predictor got this!!! Hard to believe at 57 points and 2 games left still not 100% safe It would take us losing our last 2 games and some pretty freakish results but we go down on goal difference with 5 teams tied on 57 points.
Thanks San Diego, and looking forward to season 2013-14 and challenging for at least a play-off spot under Mick
Good evening Irish. Always nice to meet new members. I too have an air of optimism going into the summer. Hoping for some good signings to fire us in the right direction after what has been one hell of a roller coaster of a season.
