So far given away 4 of my sunderland strips. (Obv bought replacements immediately once I got home). 1 to a Romanian on a cruise (got a steaua top out of that as well), 2 to american friends and 1 to a Ghanaian (however you spell that).

And Chris shut up. Honestly fair does make stupid articles, have a laugh, but when some one is clearly trying to boost our morale, why knock it? If your a true Sunderland fan, Wum your OWN articles, you know we read them for the shear hilarity of your claims. Please and Thank You
 
I am a Scot who has lived all over the world, but am currently living in Australia. I have been to Sunderland and the games only a couple of times (its too damn expensive to fly there from Oz ): ) but I take great pride in wearing my SAFC replica shirt when out watching the boys play in a pub, or on the oil rigs i work on, or just out and about. It's due to 'foreigners' like myself who are helping promote SAFC in places that aren't really ever going to hear them until we get into Europe. Ive had a few guys come out with me to the pubs to watch the matches because they see the passion of the fans, and the quality of the team (most of the time!).

Sure, I may not spend as much money on the club as most other fans, but I still pay for the shirts, and help promote their brand overseas, which is where the club need to be to go to the next step.

I think global recognition - and, therefore, global marketing - is precisely why Niall brought Milliband in. He's ex-Foreign Minister and has all the foreign contacts to improve us that way. As long as Niall remains the face and voice of Sunderland within the British Isles, I think that move might work out well.
 
...... and of course, Niall and the Board were all born in Southwick, I distinctly remember kicking a ball about in the cobbled back lane at Carley Road with our Niall when we were young lads!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, getting back to the actual debate 'SAFC Worldwide'. Niall and Co are doing everything you would expect of a thriving business promoting itself abroad. We have often mentioned and debated whether the North East is an attractive place for footballers to venture. Hopefully, if Sunderland, and dare I say it , Newcastle can establish themselves as top Premier teams across the world, why shouldn't we be able to attract quality players and a worldwide audience to the North East. Just as attractive as Merseyside and Lancashire, methinks!.
 
Most supporters come from surrounding areas,ie county durham etc certainly not townies from sunderland.Big Chris more like little dick.

mate you are spot on thats why i wrote the article in the first place, to let everyone just how far the safc revolution is reaching. now when i speak to people here and they ask me who i support, many still ask liverpooool or man u. but when i reply no sunderland, instead of blank looks, its now aahh yes sandaland, red and white, and some even say yes, cat black (cos they like to put everythink back to front). the safc business is run the right way and progressing well and is already attracting quality players, and with a worldwide audience it is going to attract even more
 
All this rubbish we have to put up with from Chris and he wants to be the mod!!!! If he does become a mod I think a lot of us will be looking for another site.

I was born in Hendon, Raised in Town End Farm, currently live in Washington, I've got 2 season tickets and have bought every shirt available but i work overseas & can't get to every game, does that make me any less a supporter?

Any idiot who thinks we can survive on only Mackems and perhaps Sand Dancers as our fan base is a purist in terms of civic pride and they can be commended for their love of the region.

They are however mentally ******ed in terms of the business and social world which has moved on somewhat from the 1930's.
 
We're happily building a band of Sunderland supporters here in Miami, Florida. Being born in Sunderland and as a former Fulwell End season ticket holder, I believe it is my duty to help promote the club wherever I reside. Our small Supporters Association in Florida is made up of people from different countries and walks of life - English, Americans, a Jamaican, a Mexican and an Argentine.

We meet for most games in bars or at one of the supporters house's, donning out shirts and flying our flags. Sometimes only four of us can make it, other days we're ten strong. The merry band ARE TRUE SUPPORTERS, regardless of how many games they may/may not have attended at the SOL. Their passion is strong, knowledge base superb, and I am very pleased that I am able to meet with like-minded people to watch the team I love from afar!

I left Sunderland to join the RAF. After serving as an officer for many years, during which time I was twice decorated for bravery, I resent the fact that I can't be a "proper supporter" as I no longer live in the area nor speak with a local accent. What planet are you on Chris? Are the Red and White Sikh Army not "proper supporters" then? I wasn't aware that season tickets are only for sale to white skinned individuals who live in the city and speak with a local accent. You are a racist fool and a disgrace to SAFC.
