Title says it all; what would you like the SAFC lineup to look like for the 2011-12 season. Preferably realistic ideas only please! My attempt: ----------------- Gordon ------------------- Hutton --- Nedum --- Turner --- Bardo Hendo --- Sess ------- Catts --- N'Zog --------------Gyan --- Welbeck ------------ Subs: Elmo Richo Anton Titus Meyler Steed Campbell I think Muntari is using us as a stepping stone to better things. If he performs well he will go elsewhere, if not he will be back to benchwarming at Inter - doubt we can afford him if we make the other signings suggested in my team... I think this will be Mensah's last season with us. His sub-par perfomances lately coupled with his persistent injury problems (hope he proves me wrong on boh counts in the coming months!) will make Bruce decide he isn't worth the risk. If the rumoured 2m deal is true I think Elmo will be snapped up. Far from the finished article at the moment but is young and has pace in abundance - Bruce won't let him go. Onouha I hope is given a run at CB - truly believe he can make the position his if given the chance and think Bruce should sign him up. Welbeck to come back for another season on loan. SAF doesn't seem keen on losing him and he is very cagey about playing for SAFC in future in all interviews I've read from him - think he sees himself at MU in the long run. They have enough forwards for now though and SAF has said he's happy with th prgress he's making at SAFC hence one more loan. Season after Berbs will be 30(?) and perhaps past it and that's when I think Welbeck will be given a run in the Man U first team. Lastly, I think Wigan will go down and we will sign Insomnia, hope the rumours of a summer transfer being agreed are true. I'm not his biggest fan but doubt we can attract anything better, and hopefully Bruce can sort his attitude problem out - he's worked with him before with no major issues as far as I'm aware? All speculation of course and Bruce will probably go out and sign 10 unknown foreigners who take 3 years to "bed in" . Hmmm, there's probably enough content in here for 5 threads - Apologies I'm new at this! Anyways, interested to hear opinions on what I've said and other people's preferred lineups..
not bad and could well be it. i personally would like downing rather than n,zog, and hopefully a proven striker rather than wellbeck, we need experience there not potential, but wellbeck would still be one of our 4 strikers,
Crazypete, I think a lot will depend on the next few months. As things stand, I think your team is a very realistic one for next year. However badly we may do before the end of the student, I think N'Zogbia will still see Sunderland as a step up. Should the end of the season go well (we did pull out of our slump last year after all), then maybe Muntari will stay (he stayed at Portsmouth for a while, didn't he?) and we might attract another player to take us on another step (Gourcouff of Lyon might want to restart his promising career with us - or at least someone of that ilk). Mind you, Parker of West Ham would be a brilliant acquisition. As long as we don't have any Bãnt-like situations, we should be moving on with the team you suggest.
One thing this current bad spell has highlighted to me is the importance of tried and tested experienced players and that we need greater depth to the squad….. **** that’s two things. If we do not turn things around shortly I doubt we’ll have the chance to improve the squad and could actually weaken it.
bad team, sess not a centre mid he should be playing right and onouha should be at right back with Bramble and Turner CB's as they are brilliant together. I would still buy a left back
its all about opinions mate, safc have used ned as a r/b when c/b is regarded as his best position and as for sess on the right, thats the problem with this lad, just where does he play his best football, when sighned bruce stated he can play left/ right or centre. i dont know the answer to this but although on several times i have stated that i havn't been that impressed, so far, once the answer to just where should he play im sure we will have a cracker. as for the right wing, im one of the last henderson supportes. also buy a left wing? definetly as cover for bardo
far far to early to say, usually there is a shock departure, last summer was Lorik Cana and in Jan was Darren Bent. My guess would be... ------------------ Gordon ------------------ - Onuoha -- Bramble -- Turner --- (new LB) - ------- Cattermole ------ Muntari ----------- Sessegnon ------------------------ N'Zogbia ------ (new CF) ----------- Gyan ---------- subs: Mensah, Bardsley, Mignolet, Henderson, Richardson, Campbell, Welbeck I personally think Anton will go along with Angeleri and Riveros, I like the lad but I think with 1year left on his contract he will be gone, maybe 1 of Henderson or Gordon as the big name suprise departure I also think we will bring another 2 in aswell as the ones in the line up, a back up centre half if Anton leaves and a central midfielder
may have trouble getting a better l/b than bardo (safc player of the season) not many around, you got someone in mind?
yes, that is the team i would play, it has the right balance of attack and defence, we are stong in the middle with 2 a good spine and wings!
Bendtner would be a good partner for Gyan but i remember reading before that Arsenal would want 15m + for him. He is good but not worth 15m.
agreed but bent wasn't worth 24m, if we could have got 9m and bendter for bent, i'd have snapped their hands off
Hutton Titus Turner Bardo A Johnstone Catts Myler Sess Gyan Bentner Subs Campbell Ming Richo Elmo Nedum Hendo Zenden Welbeck In my opinion we buy 3 players sign Elmo Nedum
