while i agree the safc badge is one we all love, which would you prefer?
the new one symbolises the new era and all that goes with the sol,
but the old one holds so much for many of us and our history with shipbuilding, and the bold red and white stripes are what safc are famous for,
then theres the first one which i know nothing about and only just come across it, but looks canny.
im not suggesting a change, more of a poll as to your favorite

Like the look of the first one but my favourite is the current badge for no reason other than it looks good.

    .
I love the first badge; I wonder where it comes from - is it an actual retro badge? The current one I find too 'heraldic by the numbers' and the old one is pretty dated. I still buy the shirts but if I was given a choice they would sport the 'mystery badge' in the future.

We shouldn't go back to the middle one. We had that in one of our relegation seasons and a mag friend sent me a copy of it with the ship sinking!! I can laugh at it now but it wasn't funny at the time!!!

    Nice post commachio,

First Badge looks good, but reminds me of Soton's badge, could be wrong (only ever seen it on this Forum.
Second badge reminds me of my late Da, worked at Doxford's in Pallion - he had a model SD14 on the fireplace, which was awarded for 100 years service........
Third badge is mega - more reflective of the City.

I prefer the badge of today. Whoever designed it played a blinder putting Penshaw monument in. It's the first Mackem thing I see driving up from London and tells me I'm home.
I'll always have a soft spot for the "ship badge" as I grew up with it. Also I worked in Austin and Pickersgill's for six years, so seeing a ship on the badge always gave me a a bit of a buzz.

I like the new badge, but the second badge is the one that always gave me a happiest feeling when it popped, all shiny and silvery, out of a packet of Pannini stickers.

Agree with Cyprus, driving up the A1 from Bedford we always had a game in the car who could spot Penshaw monument first. Brings back memories. The wife actually thought it was called Pension's Monument??????

Sunderlad would you recognise the ship as an SD14 shape?.....There used to be a presentation about ship biuilders...riveters using heavy hammers in the old days in the museum (dunno if its still there)....I`d have loved to seen a ship with crossed hammers if WH hadnt had it as theres......something about hammering opponents would have been great.....

It certainly is an SD14. A bit stylized mind.

My grandfather was a ship builder. Dyavvy should I have known that it was SD14 or did you google it?
