Will he?Wont he? Who believes him? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,20876_7059026,00.html We currently have Giggs, Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher, Cleverly, Jones,Pogba and Morrisson who can play there, so I would not be suprised either way, canny old fox.
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11667_7059026,00.html how many champions league finals are we going to have to be completely outplayed in before he realizes games are won and lost in midfield? hargreaves has left the club (although he was never truly involved) scholes has retired fletcher still seems to be struggling with the mystery illness he picked up last season it's hardly rocket science to figure out where our weakest area is. cleverly, despite claims by fergie that he'll go onto play for england (so has bothroyd) was never outstanding for wigan. does this mean we'll spend another season relying on a 37 year old who's spent the past 20 years out on the wing, to be our creative force in centre midfield, again? it's so ****ing depressing. carrick, anderson, cleverly, giggs and a questionably fit fletcher is not enough to get us successfully through the upcoming season. i'm getting rather annoyed to be honest with another season coming and going and fergie refusing once again to bring someone in, in a position where it's so obvious we need strengthening. de gea was a necessity. young and jones wasn't.
It's probably mind games. I wouldn't be surprised at all if a top class midfielder comes in. Plenty of time left in the transfer window
just made a thread on this we must of posted it the same time ridiculous really. nolh was right. another season will come and go with the same midfield. giggs - we shouldnt be relying on a 37 yr old whos spent the past 20 years out on the wing to be our creative spark in midfield ando - i like him, but fergie doesnt seem to trust him in the big games and instead goes for giggs carrick - will it take him another 2 years to get over another lesson from barca fletcher - still struggling with the illness from last season cleverly - was never outstanding for wigan and cant see him making the grade long term jones - hes a central defender. lets not start putting square pegs in round holes like we did with smith pogba and morrison have made 1 or 2 senior appearances between him. so to say they can play there is a bit premature to say the least.
Unfortunately i don't think its mind games. The manager has an inexplicable faith in a midfield that cannot hold the ball when pressured, create next to nothing and don't compete physically. He said Scholes would need to be replaced but now we will go with what we have. Again! Anderson is the only one of them i rate.

It is frustrating as we all expect an arrival because we have been dominated in CM for too long now and by teams that should never do it. I wont be annoyed if we dont though, if by that we blood the young lads. Our great successes have been built on youth, its the tradition of our club, the class of 95 that culminated in the treble(not to forget the multiple doubles on the way) and of course the Busby Babes themselves, people thought Sir Matt was off his rocker too when he put out a side with an average age of 21/22 when the norm was 30+, but it caught the imagination of the Nation and Europe "The Busby Babes" were very famous before they were immortalised. I think we have failed our own ethos in recent years, while JOS was a good servant to the club, as is Fletcher they are no world beaters and they have been the highlight of our youth productions this past decade, so it would be good to see some youth given its shot.Anderson deserves a chance to succeed Scholes and should be given a good run at it IMO.
If it means Pogba and Morrisson get brought into the first team, I`m cool with that. Agree 100% Stevie, our current CM`s are not up to scratch bar Anderson.Carrick has his uses, as he screens the back 4 very well, if only he would stop being a pussy and stick the boot in now and again, he would be far better for it.We have Jones now, who may teach him how to tackle. Giggs will be good for 15 games but for me that just interrupts a growing partnership, separating them to accommodate an ageing legend doesnt help IMO.

It's not the players, it's generally the system. We often get overrun in away games where we tended to play with 4-3-3 with the wrong players, like the Blackpool game for instance. When we got into a formation that was more suited to the players, i.e. a derivative of 4-4-2, we were more comfortable. Also, how do you explain our midfield dominance of Chelsea pretty much all the games we played against them? It's the system, not the players. Sheasy was a good player, granted not going to get into many World XIs but Fletcher is misunderstood so badly. He is technically gifted, two footed, an eye for a goal and a pass, strong work ethic and tactical awareness. Much like Park, one of the more intelligent players that we have. He was injury plagued last season but for the previous 4 or 5 seasons, he has been one of our best players and not just because he works hard.
I really don't think it's the system. The reason we can play well against Chelsea is that their midfield is as pedestrian as ours. When they upped the tempo at the bridge in the league game, we again couldn't cope in midfield. Watch us when we play any team who play at a high tempo. The midfield can't deal with it. They just aren't up to it. The system would work fine with good players.
