http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-17577497 Massive shame, father of 4 who dies playing the game he loves. RIP.
Horrible news. If it is any consolation to the family, which I doubt it is, he died doing something he loved. RIP Mr Ralph
I don't know how many people die a day but if we made a thread for everyone of them, there would be quite a few. Yes this is sad news but he isn't even from the area.
I sort of see where you are coming from, but he was a pro (semi) footballer and this is a forum predominantly dedicated to footy, so it's valid, as this sort of thing doesn't happen often, in footballing circles. But it does seem to be another tragic story in a very short time span. I don't think we should turn a thread meant in the utmost respect, that On the Bus has kindly taken the time to present us with, into a debate about it, so I'll shut up now.
I'm originally from the Torbay area and this is very sad news indeed. 47 really is no age and it must be heartbreaking for his family....RIP and condolences to all who are close to him.
That is sad indeed. A similar incident occurred last week when a well known referee in Yorkshire died after a game. It must be shocking to be there in person. http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/new-soccer-tragedy-1-4385085
If this was Muamba that died then then it would be headline news , a minutes silence in every single game , All the footballs saying Pray4Muamba etc. But cos its some unknown it's just a tiny article hidden away on the bbc site
You've been off my ignore list for just one day. I'll give it another six months before I check back to see if you've taken even a faltering step towards humanity.
Maybe there should be a minute's silence at every football match, every week so we remember all the people that have died.
Read this earlier today. Very sad news. To those affected it is almost certainly the worst news they've ever received. RIP.
Another sad story, I see a man died of a heart-attack doing a marathon in Reading this weekend too. Do people think that we are seeing more such incidents due to more global coverage or can this partly be attributed to the intensity of the game or peoples diet and fitness these days?
More likely that we hear of these things more because of the internet, otherwise we'd hardly be aware of local papers round country. Also when an incident like Muamba's gets big coverage, other stories get reported because they are considered related.
Strewth mate.....you wait until something tragic happens in your life........You are right of course that cannot be denied, but kind of obvious don't you think? I don't believe that you cannot see the tragedy for his family. OK he may be twice your age...but don't you think if you were around his age you would be thinking......"there but for the grace of god go I".......in other words it could happen to you. In view of the other revelations that have recently been made public....it just makes you think a bit.......
The loss of just one human life is cause for great sadness. We are no longer human if we think otherwise. His family must be heartbroken. Saintsforthewin may not have lost anyone he loves just yet (not that I would wish it on him) and therefore is unaware of the great sadness and the pain of grief that the loss of someone you love brings.
Assuming something doesn't change this. Is anyone here in love with this person? This has only come to light due to Muamba. Since the Muamba incident the media feel they have to bring all these stories to light. This would have made the local rag and that's it usually or just the small local section on BBC. Godders, I had a friend die (I didn't love him) when playing rugby at the age of 21 due to sudden death syndrome. At least this guy had the chance of becoming a parent and having kids.
I play in the vets league and played against Chris earlier in the season and know most of the Chagford side. I find your comments SaintsForTheWin in incredibly poor taste and not because I know Chris.
