I see that Stephen Darby (former youth player who played a couple times for Rafa), a very local lad and kopite has contracted Motor Neuron Disease and has had to retire. This is a life limiting condition obviously. Terrible news
Very bad and sad news. One of our managers had it. First real symptom was when he could not lift his foot off the floor to climb the stairs at the office when coming back from a lunch with clients. Everyone, including himself, joked about it. Similar things kept happening to him in the following weeks were his body would not do what he wanted it to do. He saw his doctor and after tests was told if was MND, he was dead within 18 months leaving a wife and two boys in their early teens. It is a horribly odd disease in that some people can live for decades with it as they slowly decline and with others it is very rapid from diagnosis to death.
