QPRSacked Chelsea youngster Mellis handed chance by QPR 04/04/2012 by David McIntyre Midfielder Jacob Mellis, recently sacked by Chelsea, has been handed a trial by QPR. Mellis, who spent last week with Championship side Burnley, was dismissed by the Blues after admitting setting off a smoke grenade in a prank at the clubâs Cobham training ground last month. The 21-year-old played for Rangersâ reserves in a game against West Ham on Tuesday and scored their goal in a 2-1 defeat. Strikers Heidar Helguson and DJ Campbell also featured in the match as part of their respective comebacks from injury.
As already mentioned I don't know how he gets sacked for a smoke bomb prank but Cashley shoots someone with an airgun and gets away with it!
I doubt it was a first offence, but in any case, Cashley could afford a good legal team if they'd sacked him and Mellis wasn't a first team regular.
