    S.S. Napperlea

    vs.

    Swansea Sitty
    Venew: Naples

    Kick-off 6:00pm (Welsh time)

    Thursday 27th February 2014

Meeting of the Abergarngochdulais Branch of the Swansea Sitty Supporters Club at the Stag and Dalek Pub

In Attendance: Mr Gullible (Secretary), Tarquin (Chairman), Molly (Treasurer), Algernon (Committee Member), Annabelle Fortescue-Smythe (Tarquin's new girlfriend), Darren

Item 1 on the ajjenda was there name. Molly said that the S.S. Napperlea was a ship like the S.S. Great Britain and not a football team at all. She said she remembered the Kween launching it by smashing a bottle of shampain on the front and saying “God bless her and all who sail in her”. Tarquin corrected her and said that the team was akchewly S.S.C. Napperlea which stands for Societa Sportiva Calcio Napoli.

Annabelle Fortescue-Smythe put forward another theory that Napperlea was a cheese spread but she was told to shut up and that she was thinking of Dairylea not Napperlea.

Item 2 on the ajjenda was the danger to our fans and players as Naples is situated at the foot of Vesuvius which is an active volcano. Algernon said that the last time it erupted properly was in 79AD and so it was due to erupt again at any minute. The Swansea team could be berried under 20 feet of volcanic ash, or worst still, berried under a pyroclastic flow. Algernon went on to explain that a pyroclastic flow is a fast-moving current of hot gas and rock which reaches speeds of 450 mph and temprichas of 1000 degrees centigrade.

Tarquin said that a pyroclastic flow sounded pretty nasty. Annabelle said that Nathan Dyer and Wayne Routledge could probably out-run a pyroclastic flow as they are fast players, but we all agrred that Wilfried Bony would probably be a goner.

Item 3 on the ajjenda was the Napperlea team. Considering we had watched them at the Libutty last Thursday we still didn’t know many of there players.

We all new Pepe Rayner coz he played in goal for Liverpool, like.

Then there was the one with the mohican hair-do who looked quite useful (Ham-sick?)

The other one we remembud was Higuain the centre-forward, but we all agreed he looked a bit of a donkey.

All the rest were just typical dirty, shert-pulling Italians.

Item 4 was our favarit part of the meeting where we have to name as many famuss italian people as possible. Molly tried to be clever and started naming all the Popes but Tarquin said she was wrong as very few of them were akchewly Italian. Here’s wot we thunked.

    1) Mussolili
    2) Silvio Berlusconi
    3) Marco Polo
    4) Leonardo da Vinci
    5) Leonardo di Caprio
    6) Michaelangelo
    7) Galileo
    8) Puccini (composer)
    9) Sophia Loren
    10) Romeo & Juliet

We didn’t know no more. How about you guys?

Item 5 on the ajjenda woz our predikshan. We were tawn between an optimistic 1-1 drawer with Swansea going thru on away goals or a narrow glorious 2-1 defeat.

    Mr. G.

Do any of you think our strongest team is good enough to play 2 games so close together, which could be amongst the most important 2 games of the season for us ?

    ............Vorm...............
    Rangel-Chico-Ash-Davies
    ......Britton-Shelvey.......
    Dyer-..Hernandez...-Routs
    ............Bony................
    .....For Both Games......

    subs
    Taylor
    canas
    michu ?
    Emnes
    Poz?
Shelveys injured ? have to be second choice canas then .

    Dear Mr. Gullible

I see you and your committee have mistakenly left out 2 out of 4 turtles (50% **** up rate...even Laudrup did better than that!).
The other 2 are Donatello and Rafael.
    No need to thank me.

I don't expect we will have it all our own way this time for obvious reasons but i do expect us to be able to match them, I'm expecting the hostile crowd to give napoli a huge boost and our defenders and vorm will have to be right on top of their game tonight and beware of the early goal that they will almost be after... The longer the game goes on the better our chances get and if we can get a goal then napoli will be under pressure then, I'm predicting a score draw that will be enough to send us through to the next round.....COYS

I think we'll have to freshen things up for Palace now that the first team played Liverpool (and worked their bollocks off) 3 days after the 1st Leg.

    Given these circumstances tonight I'd start;

    ------------ Vorm ---------------
    ------ Chico ---- Ash -----------
    Rangel ---------------- B. Davies
    ------ Leon -- De Guzman ------
    Dyer ------- Pablo ---- Routledge
    -------------- Bony -------------

    Against Palace I'd start with;

    ------------ Vorm ---------------
    ------ Bartley ---- Amat --------
    Chico ---------------------- Taylor
    --------- Shelvey -- Canas ------
    Routledge --- Emnes ---- Lamah
    ---------------- Bony --------------

    Bringing on, ideally....
    Leon/De Guzman for Shelvey,
    Dyer/Pablo for Routledge
    and
Vazquez/Ngog for Bony (providing we are winning

If Bartley hasn't recovered from his hamstring injury then Chico or Ash would step in naturally, possibly with Jazz coming in at right-back.
I think Chico would do a fantastic job on Ince at RB (realise I'm probably the only one who would like to see this however.
I think Rangel is getting on and was never the fastest. He will have played 4 games in 10 days if he starts and in those circumstances I think he would get done several times by Ince/Puncheon/Bolasie. We need him against Napoli in tandem with Dyer IMO. For those reasons I'd bench him for Palace.

We are really missing Pozuelo and Michu IMO. If just 1 of the 2 were back we'd have a lot more options tactically.

There's only 3 broad scenarios for tonight's game:

    Napoli win
    It's a draw
    Swansea win

As two of those three scenarios sees us through, that means we have a 66% chance of progression :)

Yes, I thought there would be a smart-arse somewhere!

Let's assume the probability of a draw is 33%. The most common draws would be 0-0, 1-1, 2-2 or 3-3 so 0-0 represents about 8%.

If it's 0-0 after extra-time we will go to penalties and would have an equal chance of winning or losing the shoot-out. Therefore the possibility of drawing 0-0 and losing on penalties is about 4%.

I am, therefore, willing to revise my probability of progressing to 62%
