View attachment 11669 vs Charlton once again have a long old trip up north this saturday. This weeks oppenents come in the shape of S****horpe United. Charlton were very poor last weekend and well beaten by the in-form team in the shape of Notts County. The addicks went down 4-2 and incredibly were 4-0 down at half-time. S****horpe have played two games since saturday both away from home and have managed two draws. A 0-0 away to Preston and a 2-2 away at Yeovil. When S****horpe came to the Valley earlier in the season the two sides played out a 2-2 draw but this is only half the story. Charlton were 2-0 up with goals from Skipper Johnnie Jackson and top goal scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips. To me they seemed to be in cruise control and this is when S****horpe staged a dramatic comeback as with 17 minutes to go when Bobby Grant helped himself to two goals the latter coming in injury time to give S****horpe a share of the spoils. On reflection this was probably a justified result although we should be holding onto 2-0 leads. S****horpe have had a disappointing season to say the least. Relegated from the Championship last season many believed they would be there or there abouts when looking at the playoffs at the end of the season. Instead they've been dragged into a relegation dog fight and could quite well be on course for back to back relegations. They currently occupy 18th place in the league with 40 points from 36 games and are the draw experts of the league drawing no fewer the 16 games. I believe they have accquired Jon Parkin on loan until the end of the season so we will have to be careful as he is a potential match winner! Charlton's Away Record - W13 D3 L2 GF31 GA12 PTS42 S****horpe's Home Record - W4 D7 L7 GF25 GA28 PTS19 Top Three Goalscorers- Charlton Athletic - S****horpe 19 Wright-Phillips - 9 Barcham 13 Jackson - 9 Grant 9 Kermorgant - 6 Dagnall Interestingly enough Grant has signed for Accrington Stanley on a months loan deal and Dagnall currently turns out for Barnsley so S****horpe could be short of goals Previous Meetings - Charlton Athletic 2-2 S****horpe United 20/08/2011 S****horpe United 1-0 Charlton Athletic 02/02/2008 Charlton Athletic 1-1 S****horpe United 11/08/2007 S****horpe United 0-2 Charlton Athletic 10/02/1973 Charlton Athletic 2-0 S****horpe United 16/09/1972 My team to play against S****horpe - Sullivan Solly Morrison Cort Wiggins Wagstaff Hollands Hughes Harriot Wright-Phillips Kermogant Subs Hamer Taylor Haynes Jackson Sho-Silva The team needs to be changed and although I can't see this happening I feel this could freshen us up a bit. Harriot and Wagstaff will give us pace down both wings (I know some don't rate Waggy but a goal and an Assist last weekend proves his worth his place for now) while Hughes and Hollands has probably been our most successful midfield pairing this season. I wasn't impressed at all with Taylor or Hamer last weekend and I've gone for the strong approach the break up the successful back 5. Finally I've put Sho-Silva on the bench because if we are winning and look comfortable why not bring him on. Blood the youth!!! Saying all this I still believe we will only manage a draw in this game after our recent form. That being said COYR!!!
Jeez Belv! Cracking match thread as always mate, but you've gone a bit OTT with the team selection. You been on the sauce? We all know (a) that we need to make some changes and (b) that CP ain't gonna do it. So this maybe a bit academic, however, my team would be (assuming everyone is fit): Sullivan Solly Taylor Morrison Wiggins Hughes (Russell if Hughesy is still crocked) Stephens Green Wagstaff Kermorgant BWP Green on the wing and told to stay there and do what he does best. Waggy operating in the hole between the midfield and Kermit whio is told to stay up front. I don't much rate Waggy, but he earned his chance with his display last week and he's wasted on the wing. Don't know how to call it. We are playing so poorly we could lose to anyone but we seem to have cracked it away from home and Scunny are poor. No predictions. Let's just see and hope.
Yeah I know i went a bit crazy guess I'm still frustrated with the back to back defeats and the current team seem to have run out of ideas of late. Bringing in some of the younger players may give us a fresh approach and by dropping some of the first teamers it may show them that no ones place is a guarantee
I was wondering if sho-silva might be ready to make the squad in Haynes absence. But I guess that's because we don't want Clarke anywhere near the first team?
Like Sho-Silva on the bench Belv if he came on for the last 10-15 mins of a game with his pace and enthusiasm it would scare the bejezus outa defences
I've not seen Sho-Silva and I'd generally be very wary of throwing in a novice at such a crucial stage. But Clarke is just so awful that I'd just as soon throw the lad in to see what he can do. having Clarke on the bench is like playing with 4 subs anyway. If ever we needed proof of that it was last Saturday. Is CP beginning to realise that he's a donkey I wonder? My new chant: "Its been 28 days, bring back Paul Hayes". Not very imaginative I know, but at least it rhymes.
I forgot my prediction - ermmmmmmm 2-3. BWP brace and should he start I fancy Waggy to get another. I think we'll win, but not in a manner that will stop fans from being concerned. They will be looking to lump it up to Parkin which could well play in to our hands, but we will need to be alert as he is as good on the deck with the ball at his feet, than he is in the air.
I have seen Tobi Sho Silva about 20 times and he is nowhere near the level needed for the first team, at the moment,he is very raw. My team for Scunthorpe:- Hamer,Solly,Morrison,Taylor,Wiggins, Waggy,Russel,Hollands,Jackson BWP,Kermy. Subs Sullivan,Cort,Green,Stephens,Clarke. I would also recall Hayes after Tuesday to sit on the bench.
Dick Plumb! How you doing? It's going to be close and it's going to be tough. 2-1 to us and back on track.
Better to have a defensive midfielder on the pitch and an attacking one on the pitch but which one? I'd play Stephens because he had a good second half which was the only positive for me against County. So we'd have 2 good attacking options on the bench, Hollands and Green. I'd like to fit Pritchard in but can't see where.
Now that Clarke has gone (yippee) and haynes is crocked I suspect Waggy will be our forward option on the bench and that Green will start. Otherwise I think Waggy would have started.
no more slip ups please lads i am getting worried about my bet on your lot winning the title.come on charlton .come on charlton
We are going to need Hayes back to get over that line. Sooooo, would you rather the money, or keeping Hayes for the season?
Morning all. Quiet on here of late? Not sure how I feel about today's game now the time has come. We should win but....... Next two games are key to the season methinks. Two wins and I think we are on the verge. Two losses and I think we are in deep doodoo. So positive head on today. COYR
Some form of result is definitely needed. I'm not going to underestimate them (unbeaten in 4), but I'm sticking with a gritty win. 2-3
