Over the last couple of prem games and the pre season it's occurred to me that ameobi has definitely surpassed airey, a lot of talk was about airey but the way Sammy keeps banging them in he has a good chance of getting some game time this year!!

Airey just had/has a lot of hype because he's local. Loads of poeple I know who've watched him or know him personally say he isnt all that.

We should test him against the mackems. Him and Shola on the same pitch should scare the crap out of the lot of them. <ok>

Hmm, true. But if Airey was as good or better he'd have been the one getting PL games and travelling with the first team in pre-season.

Every time I've seen Airey play personally hes looked ****e, and a lot of others have mentioned this also, I think Sammy is surprisingly looking like a good prospect, I would have no quarms with him replacing his brother now even at this early stage. Can he be any worse? I doubt it.

Only recall him getting one first team call up, against Stevenage.
He really pisses me off like, only good thing I've seen him do is score a last minute winner against Arsenal for reserves.

Could it be... the long fabled good Ameobi brother?

    Third time lucky, after all...

Sammy is very similar to Shola though, he has little flashes of skill where he'll beat his man but then runs out of play or loses the ball. I think he should be used on the right if his crossing is always as shocking as it was v Leeds.

I know it sounds stupid, but ameobi (sam) looks a bit like a gangly Thierry Henry, obviously not as skillfull ATM but I really think he could do well he has shown a good attitude compared to ranger, the futures bright for sammy

This. He also has the 'if at first you don't succeed, give up' gene that Shola has. Also agree that if his crossing doesn't improve he shouldn't be played on wing, think he'd make a decent striker if he beefed up a LITTLE bit.

I know what you mean, but I don't think he'll ever have that something that made Henry a great striker.

My guess is that one of 4 things will happen:

    1. He'll turn out to be awesome, and will be sold a la Carroll.

    2. He'll turn out to be useless in the Prem, and will go to a League 1 club and spend the rest of his career in obscurity.

    3. He'll turn out like Ranger - good player, but hasn't got the finishing to succee and will spend a few seasons as a reserve before going to option 2.

    4. He'll go the same way as Shola.

Can scratch out option one. Think number 4's the one, it's in his blood, innit!

I think he's already proven himself a better finisher than ranger as he's scoring for fun in the reserves, he just needs to a pack on the pounds a bit...

Ranger scores for fun in the reserves too, that's part of his problem.
