Does anyone know when we can expect a decision on his work permit? This guy really is a quality player.

I watched him make a few appearances last season in Holland and he is very quick. He makes great runs and looks to get behind the defence. He isn't afraid to shoot and can put a ball into the box. He also enjoys trying to go past his man.

He is exactly the type of player we need comming in for the front line. Along with Walcott he will give us devastating pace which should make sure we can force better teams to sit deep rather than pressing against us. He is the sort of player we should use against the Barca's of this world. Although he is most definatly the unfinished article and alot of pessimistic Arsenal fans will no doubt rip into him much like Walcott has taken alot of stick - he is a player who can add somethign to the first team already and will be fantastic if we can have him playing at the club this season.

this guy looks a great prospect, very quick with the ball at his feet, tricky and direct. hope the work permit situation can be sorted.
i think he will prove very popular among Arsenal fans, he was brilliant for Feyenoord last season and at 18 years old he is only going to improve

he's fast, tricky, agile, has fantastic work ethic (as many far-east people tend to due to their culture) and will up the clubs marketability in the far east. Japan is a completely untouched market. at first i thought his being signed may be a marketing ploy but it turns out he's just a great player!!

i doubt he'll get a permit this season. i'd love him to, and having played him in pre-season the pressure is higher because of his obvious ability, but it's unlikely.

Seems to have bags of speed and ability and learning the Arsenal way will only improve him. I really hope he gets a work permit and plays for us this season as his direct sort of play is something we need. Also people like Chamakah would really benefit from him playing as he crosses the ball!

If he does play for us this season, do we really need Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain?

Problem is he has zero international caps for Japan, so its not going to be easy getting a permit for him. God knows how we got one for Denilson.

I agree that with Ryo joinging the squad, Oxlade-Chamberlain may find it hard to get a spot in the team - Walcott and Ryo will have the pacey wing spots nailed on.

Unless Wenger has some sort of plan for Walcott to go more central and play an amazingly speedy front line lol

This HOPEFULLY means that with Miyachi and Chamberlain, walcott will FINALLY be a striker.

It is. He has played and done really for a good European team yet not a single cap. If they picked him for the Asia cup we would have got a permit by now.

Wenger is trying to force him into the national team, by apparently not letting him go for any under 22 games, only senior games

He may have played in the Copa America if Japan had gone - that would have given him plenty of caps. The earthquake damaged his chances a lot.

It's so annoying - he really is a special talent and deserves the work permit.

Couldn't they use this as extenuating circumstances?

Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo pleased he has been given a work permit. This is the player to watch out for now at Arsenal. This guy is going to have a great career.

Can't wait to see him running at defences. He is the sort of direct, non-afraid player we need. He may be a little lightweight at the moment but i expect he will be spending alot of time in the gym this season!

    Hope he plays against Newcastle.

With Miyachi, OXO, Gervinho and Walcott in the squad, maybe we can go to a plan B and use fast counter-attack play like in the past? Boy i'd love to see us play a bit like the invincibles now and then. Much more direct and exciting to watch. Remember Walcott against Barca? We looked really dangerous when he was used to run at them. Now we have 3-4 very quick players!

    Remember, SPEED KILLS!

Just image this lineup for pace:

    Miyachi Gervinho Walcott

    Arshavin
    Wilshere SONG

    Gibbs Vermaelen Djourou Sagna

Miyachi, Gervinho, Walcott and Arsh breaking at pace!!!!

That's something i've noticed as well - we seem to have all of a sudden added alot of pace to the team!

Will be great to see the speed at which we counter attack now. And also this should mean Walcott having more options when he gets forwards (as we will have a few more people able to keep up with him!).

Really can't wait to see our new players in action this season!
