    taken from nufc.com

(And in another typical twist, in addition to Simpson, Ryan Taylor is believed to be deadlocked in contract negotiations at SJP, both having rejected deals of improved length but unacceptable wages. Their current contracts run until 2013).

I'm going to play the "nufc.com are pessimistic bastards" card.

I wonder what goes on in the boardroom at our club. This isnt the first time a players hasnt fully commited himself. Im worried, that this will happen to Colo, or Saylor at some point.

Not sure they're worth keeping past 2013. Raylor will be fringe when we get LB and Simmo, a very lucky lad to be plying his trade in Premiership.

He's still got 18 months on his contract so I'm that concerned yet.

Saylor already tried it on if you remember and got told to do one.

TBH not taking to must from this when it says "Ryan Taylor is believed" yet this isn't reported anywhere else.

The team are flying high in the table, so chances of getting another club sitting in such a loft position for most of these players is very unlikly. So chances are it's an extension but no or very minimal pay rise.

I'll play this one and the "it's not for another 18-20 months so will cross this bridge when we come to it" card :)

Del: Fancy a go on roulette Mike?
    Mike: Sure. Why not.
Del: Here we go.... and it's number 16.
    Mike: Who is that then?
    Del: Taylor, Ryan. Defence.
Mike: Sweet. Offer to pay him only if he smiles.
Del: I love you Mike. You're a bad, bad man.

Once again as with Simpson, it is impossible to comment accurately on whether the deal offered is fair. Clearly the club think it is and the player does not. Like Simpson it may be he is being low balled, it may be he is being greedy. Without the figures to judge, the knowledge of where the market stands currently, I'll avoid criticising Raylor or the club.

Needless to say both him and Simpson have earned new improved contracts.

I get the feeling some players don't understand the restraints the current financial climate is putting on teams. Us, like Spurs & Le Arse stick to a very strict wage structure where only the top men in the side will be in the top earning wage bracket. (Simmo & Raylor simply aren't in that bracket) The days of us paying outlandish wages is long gone. It's the club and the board understanding ahead of a lot of clubs there are going to be some very tight financial years ahead.

  16. If this is true, then Simmo and Raylor obviously think they're better than they are. They have a chance to be part of a squad pushing for Europa spot, they should be grateful

That's exactly what they are - negotiations. The board could have quite easily went in low expecting to haggle to an acceptable wage. The player and (mainly) his agent will also be fighting to add that little extra on top.

Stop all this "he must think he's better than he is" bullshit. No one knows how much they have been offered.

FFS football is simple, they players play for the highest wage. If their agent thinks he can get them more money and him also then they'll not sign. Simple as that! When are people going to wake up and forget about this PA love for the club bollocks.

Why is that "obvious"? You have no idea what the club have offered.
