    Peter Beardsley scored the Toon's first Premier League goal against the Black Cats, followed by Les Ferdinand. Then came the following: Alan Shearer, Kieron Dyer, Didier Domi, Marino Helder, Gary Speed, Andy O'Brien, Craig Bellamy, Nikos Dabizas, Nolberto Solano, Shola Ameobi, Belozoglu Emre, Michael Chopra, Charles N'Zogbia, Alberto Luque, James Milner, Michael Owen, Kevin Nolan,Raylor.
    special mention for Chopra for that excellent miss
    Five of those players scored more than one goal against Sunderland: Ameobi (6), Nolan (4), Shearer and Bellamy (both 3), Owen (2).
