do you think Giggs should be mentioned among the likes of best, maradonna, cruyyf etc..?
maybe not sheer ability wise, but to play at that level for 20 years, and still turning and influencing games..i think he has too..

Definitely a great, he's been influencing the outcome of games for 20 years, you can't ask for more than that.

Scholes isn't far behind either(though he's obviously not going to manage 20 years)

Giggs has been and is the ultimate professional with an abundance of skill which is more than can be said for Maradonna .I wonder if the likes of Cruyff or or George Best and Maradonna would have retained the level of performance that Giggs has, had they stayed in the game at the top as long as he has. He is still a tremendous asset for Man U and can turn a match at any given moment .

Definitely a legend, what he's achieved in the game will never be repeated I don't think. However, I don't think he'll ever be compared to Maradona, Pele etc as his achievements are more about longevity and consistency rather than raw talent - not that he's short of that. The fact he's never achieved anything on a world stage will probably hold him back as well. He'll for me forever be the Premier League's second best player. After Dean Windass.

I thought Giggs was the repeater lol Sir Stanley still played at 47 I believe . He and Mortensen tore the Bolton defence to shreds in that Epic F.A Cup Final in the 50's.

He'll be regarded as one of these players that is highly known and rated throughout the world. Unfortunately he's never gonna be mentioned with the likes or maradona, pele or beckenbaur. A bit like Alan Shearer was. Pity really.

Xabi reckons Scholes is the best midfielder of the last 20 years, I'd put him (Scholes) slightly above Giggs on the all-time great list.

TBH I've never been a fan of his, good professional that he is and has been - a winger that couldn't cross a ball. Not in the same class as George Best.

Yes Giggs for me is a great, and yes a legend. What he has done on and off the field is a credit to himself and other footballers should look upto him.
Its rare that you dont find a true great that does not have some kind of problem like Best, Gascoigne and Maradona

To sustain that level of quality for so many years has to put him at great status. He always comes across an outstanding profession too and, in an age where football really struggles for decent role models, he stands out

Best never played on the world stage either.. he was more of a short lived firecracker, Giggs is a slow burner.. Nicky Barmby is in the same mould but just a tad less renowned.. It's hard to rank these players how can u rank Scholes above Giggs or vice versa, IMO Giggs oozes class & is technically better..

Scholes would still walk into any midfield holding role in the world he is that good..

The word legend is one of the things i hate the most but to sum up Scholes and Giggs in one word is the word Legend. However would they get there chance in this day and age? With so much money riding on every game who knows if they would of shone if they where just coming through now.

I don't think anyone can take there achievements away from them and with Giggs needing only one more medal to become the most coveted player in the history of the game surely he deserves to be up there? Raw talent can only get you so far, but if you have the team around you, you can propel yourself to greatness. How else would Wes Brown have two CL medals! Either way Giggsy and Scholes will live long in the memory!

Giggs is the G.O.A.T in the left wing position except maby George Best but they played in different eras.

It's a shame; he'll never play in a World Cup or play for England he'd have solved a lot of problems with the balance of the team because we lack gifted left sided players

If there was ever any doubt as to the greatness of Ryan Giggs then this goal would surely put it to rest. Absolutely magnificent!

I hate all things red scum( particularly Shrekney and the bell end that is Ferguson) but I have to admit, grudgingly, that the chances of Giggs' achievements ever being repeated are very, very slim.

In all honesty he has been a truly magnificent player.

He'd make my all time starting 11, I never saw Best play.
