His loan at York is over and has returned to Rovers. Here is a tweet of his from the weekend....

"I would like to thank all associated with @yorkcityfc for their support during my loan. Thoroughly enjoyed getting a run of games. I'm now looking forward to going back to @Official_BRFC fully fit and ready to play more & help them return to the football league #UTG"

Do we start him at Tranmere to see what he can do?

Yes. Start with Brunt and Harrison up top.

It's a cup game, let's see what this pairing can do.

Hope he's got his confidence back. Would be excellent if he found the sort of form we all know he has in there somewhere.

    Taken from the Post....

Darrell Clarke has pledged to offer Ryan Brunt an opportunity to force his way back into his thoughts as the striker prepares to return from a loan spell at York City. Brunt, who fell out of favour following the arrival of on-loan Cambridge United striker Adam Cunnington in August, is scheduled to return to Rovers' Cribbs Causeway training base tomorrow for the first time since he made a temporary move to Bootham Crescent last month. The striker proved his fitness by playing five times and making one appearance from the bench for York, but the appointment of manager Russ Wilcox to replace Nigel Worthington and the arrival of Deon Burton rendered Brunt's services surplus to requirements after York claimed a 1-0 victory over Cheltenham Town on Saturday. DC said:
"I think the loan spell will have done Ryan the world of good. He has played games and has some minutes under his belt, so he comes back into contention that is for sure. He will get the chance to fight for a place in the team like everybody else, and then it will be up to him to take an opportunity when it comes along."

He's only scored 9 League goals and the last 5 were for us quite some time ago now....I wish him all the best... you never know...

If Ryan's the answer to our goal scoring problems then god help us. It's patently obvious that we need a proven goalscorer now and if Higgs and the board are serious about us going back up, then they need to splash the cash now.

Ryan can be a decent player but he's never been prolific.

If we paid someone £2k per goal it would be money well spent.

Really like Brunty. Can he do the job he did 18 months ago?

Maybe, maybe not, but he deserves his chance now he's fit, which he hasn't been for 12 months or more now.

    'Mon the Brunt!

I would now put Brunt ahead of Cunnington to be honest. I like Cunnington and he has scored some goals. But as he will be leaving us after the Chester game and Brunt is our player, I would let Brunt start and find his feet back in a Rovers shirt while Cunnington can be back up on the bench until he leaves.

I would love to see a 3 man attack....... Taylor---Brunt--- Harrison

Thats pace and trickery with Taylor and Harrison which will cause the defence lots of issues and Brunt winning flick ons and holdingthe ball up will be crucial along with set pieces too.

Interesting - I think that could work, certainly at home but maybe not away.

why not away? we usually have about half the attendance at away games and have the atmosphere to make away games sound like a home game. we give too much respect to the opposition in away games and start too defensive and too slow. our best form this season is when we start in 5th gear and full pace and more often than not we end up getting an early goal. lets just go for it. goals goals goals.
