Reports claimed that the England centre-half, pictured, was on the verge of a move to Liverpool in a deal that could include confirmed target David NâGog as a makeweight. But The Bolton News can announce that there has been no conversation or contact made by the Reds in regard to the highly-rated defender, and that no approach is expected before Sundayâs home clash with Manchester City. Liverpool are one of a handful of top clubs who have monitored the 25-year-old, and it is thought they are considering boosting their defensive ranks before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month. Sources on Merseyside claim Kenny Dalglish must sell before he can buy big, however, and the Reds boss is already working on a deal to bring Algerian front man Ryad Boudebouz to Anfield, which would then allow the NâGog transfer to go through as planned early next week. Talks have taken place between the two clubs about the French striker, but sources were insistent last night that Cahillâs name had not been up for discussion. The same rumours claiming Cahillâs impending move to Anfield had also linked 16-year-old Raheem Sterling to the Reebok, suggesting he could be thrown into the bargain on a season-long loan. But the validity of the story was thrown into question when Sterling, the England Under-17 international, wrote on his official Twitter account: âEveryone, nothing has been said to me about a Bolton deal. âI know as much as you but at the moment Iâm too young to go anywhere. Iâm 16 and youâve got to be 17.â Cahill will take his place in Owen Coyleâs squad against another of his former suitors, City, in front of a large Reebok crowd expected to be in excess of 24,000. Wanderers have no fresh injury problems heading into the game.
