I think its too much. Thats 8.2m a year on a 5 year contract which is 160K a week give or take. I think we could go for 130K a week.
I don't know where they got the figure from as it has already been reported they value him at £30m, whatever they end up paying him if he joins it will be a lot less than we were (assuming he goes in January) paying Tevez that is for sure. Edited to add - http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...366/Man-City-line-up-30m-Van-Persie-raid.html
Bit steep in the summer with a year left on his contract. Can't see him playing for another prem club regardless
This, Balotelli is playing quality and have Dzeko as back up. RVP is not needed. If this goes through I'll laugh my head off at you lot though
Speaking hypothetically - Balotelli is playing well so i would put RVP and him in the starting 11. At the moment Aguero would not get a game ahead of RVP and if all four were fit I don't think Dzeko would get on the bench if it were not for squad rotation. You know Tevez, Ade and Santa Cruz will never play for us again.
RM has always rotated the squad so RVP, Balo and RVP would be our first choice with Dzeko second, if we get back into the CL we will need a top class striker and he fits the bill, weather he will move is a different matter but i am sure when Tevez leaves he will be replaced. Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has underlined his desire to sign Emmanuel Adebayor on a permanent basis. Adebayor has been a big hit at Spurs since signing from Manchester City on a season-long loan. The 27-year-old has performed well in the target-man role and has bagged a healthy return of seven goals in 11 matches to move his new club up to third in the Premier League. There had been fears that Adebayor would prove to be a disruptive influence at White Hart Lane, but Redknapp has so far managed to keep the charismatic hitman happy and even the fans have warmed to him despite his history with Arsenal. Redknapp admits it would be difficult to persuade the Togo striker to take a pay cut given that he is on around £170,000 a week at the Etihad Stadium, but he is still determined to sign the player on a permanent basis after being impressed with the start he has made. "I would like him here full-time. It would be difficult, but we like him," Redknapp said. "He's done great for us. He gives us loads of movement when he plays, and he's a real handful." Some had questioned the wisdom of signing Adebayor given his colourful past, but Redknapp has had no problems with the former Real Madrid forward. "I've enjoyed having him here. He's been as good as gold. He's not been a minute's problem," Redknapp said. "He just gets on with it. He's an important player for us and he knows that. He's been here 11 games and we've won 10 and drawn one so you certainly can't complain about the start he's had here. "He's lively. He comes in every day, he enjoys his training and looks like he enjoys being here so it's good. "I've just been talking to him, telling him how well I think he's done for us and what a key player he is for the team, and we all love that, we all love a pat on the back." http://www.newsnow.co.uk/A/537684552?-1808
The thing is, all the players we have sold to Man City have gone there for financial reasons. Would RVP follow the same route? And would Wenger sell him to a rival club for any other reason? I think the answer is, he will not.
If RVP was going to commit his future to Arsenal he would already have instigated contract negotiations to get it all sorted before the transfer window. It all mirrors the Nasri situation and with RVP having the same agent as Nasri and Clichy I imagine it will be nice for Robin to visit the Etihad today to get the feel of his future home
Actually every player City have signed have gone there for the financial reasons and they have little incentive to leave. Offering huge wages and long contracts to every player might have been funny while trying to cherry pick a title winning squad. Now you have to offload those players and suddenly no-one can match the ridiculous wages they are on. Seriously who's going to pay Adebayor 170k pw? half of that is still to much. Is he even going to want to move and take a huge paycut while having a few years left on his contract.
I would have to be naive to believe money was not the motive for many of the players but you would also be naive to suggest it was the only reason. He has two choices, stay at the club where the manager and fans rate him highly and where he is playing regularly but take a wage cut or force us to pay his wages and rot in the reserves, he will be worth **** all by the time his contract is up.
